The sad thing both are transgender...

We see it too often. Malignant musterbating. For some in our community, others within it have to meet certain criteria to be acceptable. Social conservatives can be the same way. Until humans become ok with other, this will happen. Deeper adjustment issues due to tribal rules and indoctrination are at the root, as interpreted and taught by the indoctrinators. The difference is, being a marginalized minority, we should know better.

Nothing is ever simple.
If Labour had made a transgender position and had Lily Madigan become the executive officer in charge of that transgender position none of this would have happened. Plus the way Lily became the women's officer created friction for her between a lot of other people, who subsequently quit.
I think it unfair for Anne Ruzylo, who devoted her whole life to LGBT affairs, to be kicked out and replaced by a 19 year old, regardless of what she said.
But politics is not fair.
Why wouldn't a woman be entitled to hold a position as a women's officer. Transwomen are women.

A 52 year who has devoted their life to LGBT affairs vs a 19 year with no experience.
There would have had to have been other trans women in the Labour party with actual experience on how the Labour party runs, but instead a 19 year old was given the job. It makes me wonder what the Labour party thinks about the Women's Officer position. Is it a position used to prove a point, used to prove Labour is Trans friendly, something anybody can just do? If they had given the position to a Trans women who had been a member of the Party for a significant amount of time and with some experience in dealing with people, I wouldn't be so skeptical about Lily's placement.
But regardless of that, I hope Lily can add something to the organization.
It does seem complicated. I can see why women and ciswomen in particular are angry. There are few places for women in public life and they have to fight to get in. Lily is great but she is young and relatively inexperienced. The incumbent seemed well-qualified.
All that said the backlash in the UK in particular among radical feminists and so called gender critical feminists is. . . often vitriolic and cruel.
The cornerstone of their philosophy is that women are oppressed because of their biology -- they can produce children and provide sex to men. In their view transwomen are not women because they are not 1) biologically female and 2) have lived with male privilege prior to transition and therefore do not have a legitimate female experience or an authentic female biology.
Of course science is getting closer and closer to explaining what, *biologically speaking* causes transness but they shout all this down.
At the end of the day I am sympathetic to the ire of women that are mad about Lily but I also think we need to be included in public life and above all else the "transwomen are men" thing needs to stop, based on numerous lines of scientific evidence.
We need to work together. Patriarchy hurts transwomen just as much as ciswomen. This fighting over what's left, is. . .less than productive. We need to work together to collectively demand more.
That's no excuse for what was said by one transwoman about another transwoman. Period.
I totally agree. Yardley's words were cruel, inflammatory, and insulting. I try to take a measured approach
and hear the concerns and underlying philosophy of the radfem camp but yeah, Yardley is out of line.

Alas, Ms Ruzylo's position was the LGB
T officer, and her insisting that a transgender woman was a man was... less than helpful to the cause.
