hey friends!
i'm starting depo provera next week, and i'm planning to be on hormone blockers and hormones within the upcoming months. i'm also planning on getting my tubes tied soon. unfortunately, with the timing of these things, i'm not going to be able to get my eggs frozen, which sorta sucks because i'm planning on having kids one day. how likely am i to become fully infertile over the course of several years of testosterone, or how badly will my fertility be affected? i know some trans men conceive after years of being on t, i'm just curious as to how likely it is that i will be able to do so. :)
The best thing to do is consult a specialist. The thing about hormones is we all have a different mix, so only a trained professional can advise something specific. The most important thing is not to do DiY, because then you may not realize effects on fertility until it is too late.
I do know that according to a brochure I read the only two irreversible effects are the growth of breast tissue and infertility, but I also know that some people become fertile again after stopping. The only way to know if that is backed by fact is to talk to a specialist. Also, plenty of people store genetic material ahead of time. That's what i'm looking into. Good luck with your journey!
From what I've gathered, all transgender people could experience infertility. If you believe you may want to conceive in the future, please consult your doctor about harvesting your eggs.
