My husband claims it does, but I've been drinking it since before hormones and my levels are normal.
Hi,
In large smounts, it can alter metabolism and enhance excretion. Twelve or more a day will have an effect on an average sized woman.
That's a lot of coke....
Hugs
Jen
Yes my Endocrinologist told me it does I used to drink 16 to 24 cans of Pepsi per day

And why do I get the feeling that it wasn't the caffeine free Pepsi????? :o
Does that apply for the diet coke/pepsi varieties too?. In the am, I'll have a coffee, usually, but in the pm, when I'm tight for time, I get a diet coke/pepsi, just for the shot of caffeine to get me over the daily hump of my gig.

You serious?? 😐🔫
I could never dream of touching that stuff in those type of quantities.
Maybe once a month max. And a can at that. Times I wouldn't touch it in a year.
I wouldn't be worrying about the effects on hormones, the effects on health in general is enough.

Yes It applies to basically the caffeine small amounts of caffeine are relatively safe, large amounts suppress estrogen levels that is we cis women that are trying to get pregnant are not supposed to drink caffeine. That is what my endo said anyway

No was not caffeine free I used to sleep with 3 cans of pepsi beside me so if I woke up I had one
My rough calculation makes 20 cans of Pepsi at almost 2pound of sugar and twice the safe dose of caffeine a day!
Please stop

Oh I did and with in the first 30 days I drop 20 pounds and after the withdraws I was happier. I will say caffeine is a very addictive legal drug.
This is a pic of the 6 packs 710 ml bottles I used to go through 2 6 packs a day I was defiantly a popaholic

A dozen cans, could also be ginger ale or root beer, would last me a couple of years!
It's not the best thing to be drinking anyway.
The regular probably contributes to stomach issues and/or diabetes risk and the diet contains chemicals now linked to cancer.
I love regular coke but I might as well be necking toilet cleaner. I used to drink 2 litres of diet every day back at college. Gross.
What about energy drinks? When I used to work nights in a grocery store we'd drink them out of sheer boredom eventually because they 'lost their effects after repeated exposure.' (This was when Mountain Dew AMP came in like 2 litre bottles with the surgeon generals warning not to drink more than 250 ml a day. I'd be murdering 4 litres in 8 hours.)

My Endo said that it is anything with caffeine should be avoided as much as possible. A little bit is ok but excessive amounts can just put the effects of estrogen in the garbage as he put it.

Anything with a colour or taste like that should be avoided!

If it's natural with no added crap, I severely doubt it unless in massive amounts.
Sugar even from natural sources can be detrimental in high quantities
I doubt it

I think grapefruit is high in potassium not sure though
Juice has a lot of calories and may trigger hunger instead of suppressing it. Diet soda messes with all sorts of things. I only drink pure water, the exception is coffee.
Two days after GCS this January I had the worst headache from caffeine withdrawal. Surgery pain meds weren't enough to mask the caffeine headache, my forehead hurt more than anything on my body. I did the math and realized I had been drinking three 16 ounce (500ml) drip coffees per day for several years, equivalent to 8 "servings." I haven't had coffee since then. Might re-start after all my surgeries are done but probably need to be more careful.
I stopped soda, Gatorade, and replaced with unsweetened ice tea. It helped me lose 60 lbs.
I hadn't drank coke for quite a long time until recently I guess ill have to stop again

Didn't you get a lot of UTIs and or worse yet kidney stones?

I didn´t know, that caffeine can affect estrogen levels!
I guess that applies to coffee too...and that is someting, that I drink a lot! (Being Finnish).
I guess something like 10 cups a day...
Does anyone have details how much caffeine affects estrogen levels?

Believe it or not no none no kidney stones no UTIs not diabetic I drank pop since I was 3 not like that but still. Caffeine also increases pain receptors I you feel more pain the more caffeine you drink. I stopped because I wanted to loose weight I hit 205 pounds with in 3 months I dropped down to 147 pounds and now I am backup to 165 pound but trying to get back down.

this is one article you can google it also
https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/27/caffeine-alters-estrogen-levels-in-younger-women/
I use to drink coffee all day but that was pre-transition, now I'll usually have a few cups with a glass of juice when I first get up but that's about it
Thanks, guess it´s time to cut at least half of the cups of coffee from my diet.
Although the study says, that the effects were minimal to estrogen levels, but then again, on avarage they had about 1 to 2 cups of coffee a day....and I drink 10 times of that!
If you are white it will affect it negatively if you drink over 200mg a day. https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/nih-study-shows-caffeine-consumption-linked-estrogen-changes
A 1.5l bottle of pepsi max is like 150-180, cant remember exactly
Diet coke and Pepsi are about my only source of liquids (yes I know how bad that is [emoji853]). It may be time to try quitting... Again... [emoji23]

I drink a very little gassy cool drink, maybe a can a week. I drink mostly bottled water.
Looking at that study, it says that caffeine affects the ovulation and that´s why the estrogen level went lower with white women.
Not really sure if that is relevant for transwoman who gets the steady amount via other methods, than the body producing it.
The study doesn´t really state, that caffeine would somehow affect estrogen itself, but it affects ovulation and that way to estrogen level.
QuoteI drink mostly bottled water
That is a big ecological problem. Many of those bottles wind up littering the ground, finding their way to the lakes and oceans etc., causing pollution problems. Recently, a dead whale was found with 65 pounds of mostly plastic garbage inside it. There is also a huge area in the Pacific, that's full of floating garbage, including plastics.
On top of that, bottled water is just a waste of money. Why not just get a refillable bottle and use that?

Hormones do something to it and vice versa.
Testosterone made me a caffeine wuss. I used to drink 4-5 cups of strong coffee before midday no problem. Now I drink the fake stuff since espresso makes my bloody eyes hurt, and the regular gives me a headache.
On the plus side I can drink alcohol like a fish with the T. Well, it would be a plus side if I wasn't trying to look after my liver.

Sweet irony.. I'm a cheap drunk now. 2 glasses of wine in and I'm totally.. 'uninhibited.' >.>

I agree. I "allow" myself one drink and it usually tastes weird :)
