Title: Foods for weight gain?
Post by: Chelsea on April 14, 2018, 02:46:08 PM
My sister tells me that I'm lucky but I don't see it that way. I need to gain about 25 pounds and I am having a hard time doing it. I kept having people tell me its my metabolism but I just recently had it checked and its fine. I'm looking for ideas for anything to help me gain weight. :)

Hugs,

Don't rush gaining weight at this point. As you have just started HRT you may discover over the next year or two that you'll put on 10 to 20 pounds. I was 145 when I started HRT and a few years after surgery was at 163. As you will be on a blocker, the time will be much less for you as my T levels weren't zeroed out until after surgery. T causes you to burn more calories so eating the same amount once T is suppressed results in a weight gain.

@Chelsea1807  .... you need to gain 25 pounds???   I agree with your sister, that certainly is not an issue that most of us have...
Did your doctor tell you to gain weight?   Read my next paragraph to see the foods that can cause weight gain, at least for me.

I am 5' 4" and I keep my weight around 115 to 120 pounds...  if I go nuts eating pizza, breads, cakes, cookies, candies, fried chicken, burgers, fries, ice cream, etc ... it can creep up on me so insidiously .... I weigh myself frequently so if get near 120 pounds I usually immediate take action to get back down... I can't afford new larger size clothes!!!

Anyway, I think you look great in your Avatar photo and also the pictures you have posted in the past.
Hugs,
Danielle

I've been on & off & there & back again on HRT so many times over the eons, but never noticed a whit of difference to my weight gain (or loss).  My bones got thinner, and I got a bit more fat in the right places if that helps, but I've weighed the exact same weight for the last 25 years (within 20 pound variance).  6'2, 165-185 ...

Don't rush it :) it'll happen.. plus you don't want to gain weight too fast and it might be belly fat at that (even with HRT sometimes genes curse people). And if it doesn't happen, it does redistribute too.

Thank you all for the comments. I guess its just me being in a hurry. I have always had a problem with gaining weight and I hope the HRT changes that. :)
