Hi everyone.
I would value any perspective and experience around telling kids - teenage. My understanding it is preferred to evaluate and support the special communication and support needs of each child.
I think this is coming and my wife and I need to be prepared.
Thank you aways
Karen
I told mine when they were late teens (3 of them). Went fine, and after telling them they said "Well, that makes sense" because they aren't stupid and had already picked up the clues. Each family is different, but in general teenagers (these days) are pretty open and accepting, IMHO.

That's what I hoped to hear. My kids are very open and accepting. In fact I have a son that thinks he is Bisexual. He told us and his siblings last summer. The simbling conversation was like a 1 minute conversation....they said, "so what, good stuff".
Thanks
I came out to my kids when they were adults and it went well most of my grandchildren were teens and they took it as almost a non event kids are a lot less judgmental than adults of my children I found the girls more supportive
I wish you the best with this and I know how stressful it is

Did you have to do an special therapy or support for the kids to help them understand and deal with things like the loss of "dad"?
Thanks
Karen
I have not noticed any difference between adults and kids. Basically kids have the same mental ability.
