Title: Heels
Post by: Bibi on April 24, 2018, 02:51:30 PM
Ladies,

I'm 6'3 and a half. How high should I go? It just seems ridiculous to wear more than a 2 inch chunky heel. I would like to hear your stories and advice on extra-fullness and heels!!

Bibi,

At 6'5'' I have worn up to a 3" heel happily.   Most of the time 1 1/2" to 2" works for me.

Extra - tallness, not extra fullness

I find that 3 inch heels are perfect for me, with my job and lots of walking around town.  I am only 5ft 4" so there are times when dressing up that I would wear 4" heels but usually no higher.

A lot of people are confused about how to measure heel height on a high heel shoe.   I worked in a women's shoe store when I was going to college so this is something I know about.

Heel height is measured from the FRONT of the heel to the bottom of the SOLE.   Many people measure it from the back of the heel and end up with a heel height measurement that is 1 to 1 1/2 higher than the actual correct heel height.

Therefore a 5 or 6 inch heel measured incorrectly is in reality perhaps a 4 or 4 1/2 inch heel.
A true 5 or 6 inch heel is really high and many girls can not handle it... but there are some that can walk well in that heel height and love it.  In the shoe business there were names for shoes with that higher heel height... use your imagination on that.
A lot of working women and perhaps a little older women usually went for the 2 inch heel or even the 1 1/2 wedge.... which still looks dressier than a flat.
As the old saying goes...."Pays you money and takes your choice"

I needed somethingnouter than my old way to shoes to wear. Stopped and bought a pair of slip on sneakers with cute straps across the top. Went to leave the store and didn't make it far. Saw a great pair of black shoes with 3 inch heels. Never worn heels before
So I tried them on and walked around the store needless to say the little beggars followed me home. I now own my first pair of heels and really love wearing them so far.

It may not be much help because my feet are shaped like the rest of my body, short and fat. I also tend to like 'elegant' over 'streetwalker' so all my heels are under 3". I most always wear flats because of the fit problem. And I am too cheap to spring for custom shoes.
