Title: Pumping makes me sleepy
Post by: Asakawa on April 30, 2018, 01:07:02 AM
Lately I have noticed that when using my limerick breast pump I get sleepy sometime into the 15 minute session. I did a google search and it mentioned that it could be a release of oxytocin. Could it really be that? I am not lactating so I wonder if that could happen even if there is no lactation at all? A couple of times my cheeks and face feel pretty warm all of a sudden. I also think my aerolas are getting a little larger and I think my nipples already got a little bigger. My right nipple seems to be a little less inverted. I don't know what to attribute to that, but maybe the progesterone is what is causing the other? I only say that because I think my aerolas are getting darker too, but I am only using a progesterone cream instead of any injectables or pills. I did visit the lgbt center to speak with a doctor and progesterone caps could be an option if my blood work comes out ok.

I would like to hear more about your pump if you dont mind sharing. I want hrt eventually for breast development, but have been interested in using pumps alongside or perhaps before starting hrt.

1. Does it work, in terms of making you bigger? If not then what are the benefits you feel?
2. Is it nice? My girlfriend likes my breasts okay now, but i dont think she will be super into them until they fill out more. I think i would enjoy the feeling.
3. Is there a good brand I should by or is it more preference.

Sorry for asking you questions when you are looking for answers [emoji14]
Much love, bren

Prolactin helps with breast development from what I read, but how much prolactin you get from pumping is something I don't know. Estrogen raises prolactin too, so if you are on E your prolactin should raise. At least that is what my doctor said when I visited him.

Pumping is a lot of work I am mainly using it because my right nipple is inverted and I have noticed that it has helped me with it a little.

If you just started HRT I don't think you'd see much benefit. I started when I was 21 and I'm 33 now.

I'll say this again pumping is a lot of work!

For brand  I think most breast pumps are very similar. The pj limerick is different in that the horns are flexible instead of rigid. In terms of feeling nice I'd say that I'd guess that it does. Generally after being on HRT for a while and I mean like a few years you get new sensations from the nipples. I'd say wait about 2 years or more of hrt until you try using a breast pump  since the breast structures would be growing and the mechanical pressure could hurt the cells. To be honest I think Is saw more of growth from using a progesterone cream from amazon, but that could be up in the air too.

Breast and nipple manipulation can have interesting effects. I've spent a lot of time with mine in the last few years, though it's never made me sleepy. Horny-- yes, but that's another story. I played around with a nursing pump for a while and, though it did loosen the breast area a fair bit, I don't think it changed my nipples much.

I've had better luck with the small suction cup-like gadgets made to fit on the nipples. There are a number of types out there, but the best seem to be the type sold under the name Supple Nipps and Supple Cups. They cost about $20 a pair and are small things, but if you leave them on for a several hours a day, they'll almost certainly raise inverted nipple. My nipples used to be completely flat and now perk at least a bit all the time. A bit of a chill and they protrude quite prominently, though more conical than most lady nipples. I've never used any sort of hormone or "natural" supplement or cream, BTW.

You can also get "cupping" sets online fairly cheaply that are larger than the Supple Cups. These are designed for Asian-style health treatments. I picked up a set and use them on my nips a bit now and then, but I don't like them as much as the smaller Supple Cups. I've seen interesting results from the gadgets designed to suction the entire breast. I just received one of those, but haven't really learned to use it yet. With those you have to be very careful to avoid bruising.

Thanks for the replies, I do think I'll definitely wait till I have something more there. I was just curious because I feel like some people swear by them.

Thank you for letting me know. I have tried the tiny nipple cups that are online before and I think they did help. At the time I actually used them for pumping when i'd plug the pump into the syringe opening that pulls the nipple and pump then. That was early in my transition when my nipples were smaller and regular breast pump horns pulled too much of the areola inside. The limerick seems to be nicer in that because the horn is flexible it seems to massage the areola instead of sucking it out all the way due to small nipples. Were you able to lactate when you were using the breast pump? At some point I was lactating a little but no more than a spoon. I wasn't that dedicated unfortunately.

I also went through a stage where I pumped (about a year). I remember it was actually very relaxing, and I actually came to look forward to my pumping sessions, as it was relaxing and good me time.

I had an double electric pump, which means I could pump both breasts at once. I pumped for about 20 mins twice a day. I also took a herbal supplement to help with milk duct development. I eventually started to lactate after about 4 months, a few drops in the beginning, but toward the end of the pumping stage, I actually got a nice flow. But I did found, during my 20 minute pump, milk would come out only during the last 5 to 7 minutes.

I reason I pumped was to help mature my breasts, I my breasts were very cone shaped, often teenagers have these type of breasts. I did find my breasts became fuller (not bigger, but rounder) and for me the changes were permanent (These type of changes are not permanent for all women). My doctor told me, the breasts matured when my milk ducts developed. I ended up with breasts that looked more like an adults woman's breasts.

I want to adopt a baby some day, I would love to breast feed that child, if its possible.

Interesting. Thanks for your input. It's helpful to be able to ask people anout these as I can't find much on the way of science.

No, I've never lactated. My approach is to maintain a moderate suction over several hours at a time in order to encourage long term growth in the right direction. I would think to induce lactation you would need to alternate suction pressure fairly constantly, but I'm no expert on that.

I pumped for a while and I believe it helped stimulate my girls to grow more. I was leaking clear fluid and getting crusty very often. I stopped pumping after blistering my nipple from aggressive pumping. I did enjoy the feelings during and after a session.
