Seeking a list of transgender care doctors near Sortland Norway for my girlfriend. In Norway she told me most general physicians refer to trans clinics that require RLE(Real Life Experience) for 1 year before prescribing hormones. I've read that some doctors are ok in Norway prescribing without RLE, but cannot find their contact info for her. While RLE isn't itself hard for her, they also require proof of a non family member that they function in society as their identified gender and my gf is a shut in on disability that suffers anxiety making that functioning in society part difficult. Her anxiety also makes starting that 1 year hard for her. We are planning for her to move in with me in Portland OR where trans care is easier to start, but we wont be able to afford it for a couple years.
I'm looking for help finding a dr that can start her on her path without the hoops to jump through. Does Norway have informed consent locations even?
Hi. What I´ve understood is that in Norway, you can get HRT from private sector easily, without a hassle. Similar as in USA with informed consent.
However, be careful with that or at least think it through, as the news from Norwegian gender clinic (the official) is rather sadistic in my opinion. If you start HRT with a private doctor, the official gender clinic at the monent refuses to treat you. Meaning, that you cannot get SRS with public health care or anything at all...you are on your own with labs and everything.
I cannot believe that such a sadistic approach will last forever, but it is what it is at the moment.
Then again, changing legal gender is just filling a form, so that is at least easy and can be done immediately.
There is a Norwegian organization for transgender people, I´m sure you will get a ton of help from there:
https://www.ftpn.no/ (https://www.ftpn.no/)
Also, there is at least this FB page for Norwegian and scandinavian transgender people.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/transene (https://www.facebook.com/groups/transene)
Hopefully that will get you started.
Thank you, trying to navigate that one site with google translate. I had suspected that private sector would handle that, so now task is trying to find a doctor near her location.
You can ask help also from that FB page. Even when it says that only Scandinavian languages, I´m quite sure that they understand, if you explain the situation.
I looked that Sortland is quite, "out-of-the-way" type of place :) Thus I think it would be good to ask help from that FB group.
