Title: HRT after thyroidectomy?
Post by: Curvybethannhope on May 31, 2018, 06:20:01 AM
I had a total thyroidectomy a few years ago.  Is anyone aware of any issues or complications starting HRT without a thyroid?

Thanks,

My thyroid was cooked by radiotherapy and I'm on replacement thyroxine. As long as your TFT are all OK and you are under medical supervision I can't think of any problems.

Thanks,

I am lucky and still have mine although it doesn't work that well. From my limited experience the biggest issue is hair loss when it comes to trans related stuff. Other than that I have not heard of any other issues...I would check with your prescriber for a definitive answer.

Take care
