Title: MTF Bottom Surgeons in US
Post by: Shawnna on June 12, 2018, 04:50:50 PM
I'm lucky enough to be having top surgery in a few weeks!

I hope to get bottom surgery sometime next year.  So many of the surgeons have incredibly long wait times. (4 years +).  Does any have advice on finding someone in the US that does amazing work with wait times closer to a year?

I'm in Northern California closer is better but I can travel in the US. I'm not looking out of the country to avoid issues with insurance coverage.

Thanks for any insight anyone might have.

I can't think of any way to cut in front of the line that doesn't involve lots of cash.

Have you started genital hair removal? Your surgery date has to wait for that in most cases.

I can't say what you consider amazing however Dr Ley in Dr Meltzer's office has a short waiting list. I haven't been there for a few months but it was running around 6 months the last time I checked. It's possible Dr Meltzer might have a hole open up but you would have to ask the office about that.

I had most of it laser removed 8 years ago.  Unfortunately the gray ones remain. Planning on getting them done while I'm waiting on the surgeon.  I expect a long wait but 4 years means I'll have a walker before I get my bottom done.

The only doc I know of who's wait is over 2 years is Marci Bowers at 3 years last I knew. Satterwhite at brownstein Crane could be out to 2 years now but last I knew he was a shade over a year and that practice has at least one other surgeon. Wittenberg could be running a year now, could also be shorter, I doubt she's out to 2, she only announced leaving brownstein Crane at the beginning not the year. All these docs are in the Bay area, should be great choices for you. Gary Alter in LA afaik is under a year.

My friend is still waiting to hear her date from Bluebond-Langer in NYC, and to my best knowledge McGinn in PA is under ba year.

Dr. Stiller in Idaho had a spot for me 4 months after my insurance approval, I requested to push it back to 5 months with zero problems.  Dr. Dugi in Portland is 2 years. Dr. Bowers in California is 3+ years.

Dr. Keelee MacPhee in Raleigh NC. has a "short" waiting time. Less then one year, probably 6 months more or less.

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota and Dr. Kim at the University of Minnesota both have a year or under the last I checked. Don't cut in front of my at the U of M!

I waited less than 3 months from initial consultation to GCS with Dr. Ley (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,230213.200.html) at Meltzer clinic January 2018, super happy with the results.  Her wait list is currently half year and increasing.

Heidi Wittenberg in San Francisco has very short waiting times (2-3 months). She left B&C in April and started her own practice called Mozaic Care. She is still in the early stages of building up the practice, and because of that has early surgery openings.
