Title: First pride march!
Post by: SailorMars1994 on June 16, 2018, 01:55:39 PM
Today was my first pride march!! I marched in the parade at my in my tiny little town and am very happy to do so for so many reasons! I felt like I was part of something for a good cause, we saw people of  all ages there. The Mayor was there, my long lost friend from Winnipeg came on down, and it was so great.

Having spent a lot of time in therapy this past bit I realized my biggest triggers since before been coming out was my intense internalized transphobia and my feelings of being inferior towards women (long story) and specifically, trans women. Marching in this pride I did not have a single ill feelings about my insecurities. I just moved on and marched in solidarity and am so glad I did. I saw people who where not out yet march all the way to the non binary all the way to post ops and of course our gay, pan and bi and lesbian cis family. One big family! 2019s march will be even better I'm sure :)

Just wanted to express some happiness today :)

Congratulations! The feeling of being part of something bigger is really satisfying isn't it?  :)

Congratulations, I love walking in the parade. It is validating to see so many people that are different and being themselves.

I went to KY Pride today. I had a good time right up until one of the number of street preachers yelling at us for being evil said I should be beaten for my sins and that really really triggered me. I ended up knocking down his sign, and I left to avoid a further confrontation. I'm ashamed of losing control like that but I've been beaten into a coma for being this way and this stupid fool saying I should be further assaulted just got me like nothing else.

Congratulations!  I attended my first Pride event last weekend.  Very affirming that there are many of us.

Hugs and smiles, Jessica
