Post by: Azirial on June 29, 2018, 11:19:36 AM
Currently pre hormone, i was gifted with a fairly androgynous appearance but trying to pass... I need tips...
Currently trying to grow my hair out but im looking for tips, my roots are weak and it gets pulled out easily *from brushing or hair ties* so im trying to find a product that will help with that.
All other tips would b happily appreciated too, but im trying take everything one step at a time

Hey! I would say check your vitamins and minerals, less hot showers and less heat in general when styling.

You could also try a neutral type shampoo with hardly any additives, such as a baby/infant type shampoo to begin with. That might bring some strength back to your roots. As said, avoid using a hair dryer or tongs for a while.

To grow your hair long, it actually happens faster if you keep going for trims, (believe it or not) as that encourages the hair to grow. I'd wait till its around shoulder length, then get it styled so it will look good when its longer. Then try to have it trimmed say between every 3 to 6 months. That works for me ;-)

I've heard that baby shampoo has high ph that's not good for adult hair.

Biotin suppliments. Really good for skin, hair, and nails.

My hairdresser told me not to use it.

Be gentle with a wide tooth comb when it is wet.

Try barrettes instead of elastic ties.

I'm a hairstylist, hair grows about 1/2 an inch per month. Theres not much you can do to make it grow faster. Check out Biotin, take 10,000 mcg. Skin, hair, and nails vitamins can help too. What these products do is encourages growth but also promotes healthy hair (and skin and nails).

No elastic bands in your hair, dont use a lot of heat if you can help it, don't rip through your hair with a brush, eat well, get your sleep, take your vitamins, and wait. I've grown my hair for three years and it's below my breasts. It'll get there with some patience and determination.

Good luck!

Also what I think isn't mentioned is to limit how long your hair is in the sun. Just like skin, you don't want it to be in the sun for too long without protection.
