Title: Can testosterone cause symptoms like being short of breath?
Post by: TheChosenWes on July 15, 2018, 07:52:20 AM
So I'm about 4 months on T, and I'm wondering if some symptoms that have been cropping up could be because of it. I've been getting dizzy spells when I lie down in bed, or sit up too quickly. My sister says this could be dehydration, so I've been trying to drink more water, it's just not something I've experienced before.
Also, I get short of breath--or it feels like it, anyways. I'm pretty sure there's no ACTUAL problem with my breathing, but my chest feels tight (it's a tight feeling, NOT a painful one, directly below my neck/under my collarbone). I do have anxiety, but I don't feel anxious before the feeling comes on... After, obviously, I feel hecka anxious, but not before, so it's not like the feeling is brought on by an anxiety attack or anything.
Annyyyways, I'm actually out of the country till August 10th--I have a follow up appointment with Planned Parenthood (which is where my prescription comes from), so obviously I'll bring it up while I'm there. But in the meantime, I'm wondering if this is something that should be a major concern, or is it fairly normal?
Also!! I've been binding for about 2-3 years now, but again, I've never had this problem until about the last week.

T will thicken blood by producing more rbcs and making it stickier. It can increase the chances of DVT and therefore pulmonary embolism. If you smoke and/or are overweight, this increases more. It will also raise blood pressure and make one more sensitive to the effects of caffeine. A baby aspirin daily wouldn't be a bad idea. Your doctor should have explained this to you.

If you inadvertently inject into a vein, the same can result (oil embolism). It happens. Typically not anything that demands prompt medical intervention, resolves on its own (usually a volume at or greater than 1mL requires help though).

In event of secondary-acquired polycythemia (it can develop at any time; may or may not persist for the duration you're on TRT), you'd donate blood every 8-16 weeks or so (and possibly lower your dose). If you can't be a donor for whatever reason, get your doctor to set up a therapeutic protocol with a donor center where it's tossed after draw (they won't do that without a doctor's order anymore).

And yup, 81mg aspirin would be good. Just in case.

Oh, and right about there would be your thyroid so that might be something to have checked.
