My wife and I met with her therapist on Thursday, lots of crying and holding hands and we are closer than ever. Friday met with my doctor who got me started on HRT and told me that there is a good trans community in Raleigh. Then after that I went to a salon, drank wine with my wife and had my hair trimmed and "scrunched" as it's naturally curly. I used the straighten them as a man, but just letting them go gives me a feminine do and it looks good.
I feel happy.
I know the transition will take years, but taking that first step with my wife supporting me. Made me happy. I can't remember the last time I felt this way, I am really lucky. Taking my first pills, was a wonderful feeling, because of what they represent.
I started a transition journal, to keep track of my progress and the changes, both physically, emotionally and with my relationships.
Today was a good day.
Love you all
Hugs

Congratulations on all the events of the last two days. I am so happy also that you have the support of your wife and that you have started HRT.
It is a wonderful feeling as you take the first tablet, isn't it?
You will remember these two days events forever.

Wow, that's awesome. So great that you have your wife's support. It's a journey for her too.
Brilliant what a fantastic start to your transition. Having a support wife is such a big bonus. Mine is just a wealth of information and love and support and.....you get the idea LOL
Enjoy the rollercoaster that will be your second puberty
Take care

Isn't that the best? Congratulations on starting HRT, and especially on having the support of your wife!
Happy ReBirthDay! It's a date you'll remember the rest of your life.

It is! I was surprised how emotional I was taking them, it was acceptance and starting the journey to become "whole". It meant more to me than anything else.

Thank you everyone, love and hugs all round :-)
Hello Rose
First off congratulations dear for this monumentis decision.
And having your wife there supporting you is truly the cherry on the top and your most valuable asset.
I just started HRT a couple weeks ago and have support from my wife who I've been with for 38 years.
And have learned that true love and being soulmates as one can transend anything gender, labeling, whatever is insignificant to the magic of love.
as I'm sure you already know.
all the very best for you and yours
Love Tatiana

@NC_Rose I am so happy for you.... CONGRATULATIONS .... this is something that you need to write down in your journal.
As has been stated over and over here on the Forums... and by me in many of my comments on various posts, HRT will work uniquely in your unique body.
What you read about other transtioning members experiences with HRT most likely will not be your own experiences.
Some will experience more significant changes more quickly and then some will experience less significant changes more slowly.... it is all up to your genes and how your body reacts to the HRT. Your doctor will be looking at your frequent blood test results to determine if any alterations in the HRT regimen are needed.
You have probably already heard here on the forums regarding HRT and how it may work for various individuals is "YMMV" meaning that Your Mileage May Vary.
PATIENCE is absolutely required, usually not much happens very quickly with HRT, but changes will happen. Do some reading of other transitioners posts and look many of the posted HRT timelines and the before and after pictures. .... they can give you a rough idea of what you MIGHT expect.
Hang on for an amazing ride.
We are here to rejoice with you in the good times and to support you in the not so good times.
One more time.... PATIENCE is required. The attitude of many people today is "I want it all and I want it now" ... that will not apply to HRT.
Hugs and well wishes... we will be looking for your updates as you feel free to post them.
Danielle

Thanks, I am patient and have no illusions as to how long it will take, it will be a slow process which will make it easier for my wife to adjust. I am happy to start the process and start to dress how I feel at home and amongst friends. I am in no way passable, but I am comfortable in my skin and the rest takes practice and patience.

@NC_Rose Your reply makes me happy that you have such a good attitude about your HRT, transition, and your expectations. It is good that you also understand that your transition can make it difficult especially for a spouse, I am glad that you are sensitive to that issue ... and also that she seems to be so supportive of your goals which is very fortunate for you and for her.
Your readers and followers will be awaiting your progress reports as you feel comfortable doing so.
Thank you for posting and sharing.
Hugs,
Danielle
