Title: Amazed at the Strangeness of it All
Post by: Janes Groove on July 21, 2018, 09:30:45 AM
As I progress in my transition and start to get better at blending in, I find myself able to get away with things that I couldn't get away with before and I have to, at times, shake my head and wonder at the strangeness of it all.
Like, 'I CAN'T BELIEVE I'm getting away with wearing a skirt this short!' Or,
'I'm ACTUALLY wearing a dress and nobody is staring at me.' Or,
'Dude I'm wearing a FREAKING RIBBON in my hair!!!!'

It is a mindset, I believe.  When you are able to make a transference in your mind, everything is easier to just be yourself.  Couple that with 90+% of the population probably doesn't give a hoot what anyone else is doing.
Presto!

Each of those events is you stepping over another barrier.  They feel weird because they are outside the box: the box that you confined yourself in pre-transition.  Enjoy the novelty of every one of them.  Remember them and cherish them, because soon this will all be "normal".  And that will be a beautiful thing, too.

@Janes Groove   Paritcarly when living as a woman full-time it becomes quickly "normal" to do things that women do... it is initially a strange new world for sure... but going full-time means no going back.
So, yes wearing a short skirt if so desired, wearing a dress and not being stared at, and wearing a ribbon in your hair... and all the other things too, makeup, lipstick, eyebrows shaped, dangly earrings, painted nails, tank tops and spaghetti strap tops, lace adorned clothing, skinny jeans (really tight and skinny jeans), all kinds of jewelery.... all those things that most of the male population does not do....   all of that is your world now.

All of the above is basically what @KathyLauren was eluding to... you have "stepped over another barrier"... you are now living and experiencing things that are completely "outside the box that confined you" before you transistioned... and like she said "enjoy the novelty of every one one of them"....  and yes it becomes the new "normal" and it is indeed "a  beautiful thing."

The first thing I did when I went full-time is to get rid of all of my male clothes and shoes...  there is a history lesson that I have posted several times previously on various threads... as follows:
When the Spanish explorer came to the "new world" with his armada of ships and men,  he burnt all of his ships, giving his men a clear message that there was no going back.

As @Jessica mentioned in her reply to you, it is all about your mindset... look as a woman, think as a woman, and just be yourself..... your new self.   Also, like she said, most folks are just living their own lives and really "don't give a hoot what anyone else is doing."

So, in conclusion... you are now living your life as it was meant to be...
... it is now important to make the most of it.

Thank you for sharing and posting your thoughts.... you are not alone with what you shared.
Hugs and well wishes,
Danielle

Been there. I think the one that takes the cake is walking past a reflective window, looking the reflection and for the first time seeing the woman that is ... you ... then you go now way! That can't be me can it? :) Personally I just love the feeling of being... me.
