Hi everyone! I've been on HRT for 6 months now. I'm seeing amazing results. Breasts growing fast, hair regrowing on my head, facial features totally changing. But My Testosterone is so low they can't read it.
My dr started me on Estradiol twice a day. No AA. My levels in 3 months were great, E in the 170s and T in the teens. So he left me on just the estradiol regimen.
That brings me to last Thursday. I had my three month follow up for blood work and such. Well, when I got the results my Estrogen was slightly lower, 138, but my T was unreadable.
Is this unusual? The nurse called and had me start taking an additional estradiol and Proscar. I asked her why my body would react so positively to the estradiol, so much so that it essentially stopped producing testosterone. She said she'd get back to me.
Anyone have any experience with anything like this? I'm sure I'm not the only one. Did anyone find out the reason behind it?

I've had undetectable T before. My doctor seemed pleased with it.
From what he explained, without detectable T the Finasteride wouldn't work for hair growth because it had nothing to block. So upping my E and adding the Finasteride would help with hair growth and stop any effects from the T my body will start back making from the increase of É.
It's just a balancing act, isn't it?

That's not how it works. The body can produce E from T but (http://www.ceri.com/q_v7n2q3.htm) it's a one way path as the body can't product T from E. I am unsure if Finasteride would help without any T in your system as sometimes a drug may have have more effect on the body.
My endo said the test was unreliable at very low levels. I don't think it matters unless you have negative symptoms of low T.
My T goes from very low female range once in a blue moon to unreadable T most the time. I do suffer from lack of stamina & fatigue easily, but that could also be related to other health issues going on too.
Like was stated as long as you're not suffering negative side effects of no T, many folks have this experience..including post menopausal women or post hysterectomy.
I do have fatigue and just generally no motivation. Not sure if that could be the culprit. I'm still able to get sexually aroused and can use it just fine if need be.
I think he just wants it higher to help the Finasteride work better. I'll copy the post, and edit out dosages, he sent me. I felt like I understood, but now I'm wondering if I misunderstood.

My T is right at the top of normal female levels. It isn't healthy or normal for women to have zero T. It might make the endo feel like they've taken Thor's hammer to your testosterone, and a lot of transitioners are all about the "Crush deez nuts" mentality, but a healthy female testosterone level is what you should really be seeking.

My T is low, but I'm pretty sure I get fatigue from low estrogen as well. Maybe its the combination of both.
The finasteride might still work. It doesn't act as a regrowth medicine or anything like that - it prevents your body from converting testosterone to DHT, which is thought to be a contributing factor for male pattern baldness. So, if you're body is producing any T at all, even minimal amounts, it might be worth taking, just as a preventative.
It looks like you're already getting your finasteride this way, but for anyone who isn't aware. If you're getting Finasteride as Proscar rather than Propecia, it's most likely only going to be costing you a couple bucks a month, rather than like 100. At least, that's the case in the US.

Estradiol DOES NOT convert to testosterone. Only the other way around. This is basic chemistry. Raising estradiol will only increase estradiol, not testosterone.
