After having been on a waiting list for 1.5 years, it's finally going to happen. I just got confirmed, that the 25th of October, I will have the first out of two FFS operations. First I will have a osteotomy of my forehead, an eyelid correction (blepharoplasty), my eyebrows will be raised and my hairline put to the front. Before the end of the year my jawline will be made softer too, my chin shortened and my cheekbones put a little further to the side.
So what I'm wondering, is what the recovery time for this first operation will be. How long I will approximately be bruised and in bandages? Will it take a month? Longer? I guess it will prevent me from going out, so I will have to plan the help of my friends, have an idea of when I'm presentable for work again, etc. Is there any kind of time indication?
Hi Rutka,
There are many FFS experiences at sisan's documented with pictures from recovery. Your procedures are common FFS procedures most of the people undertake. I believe that the recovery is different for everybody but in most cases in 2 weeks you will look presentable with make up and depending on your job you will be able to go to work. Again it is all case dependent as you don't know how will you heal I recommend one month off work.
In my case the bandages and nose splint were on for 10 days, and were gone when the nondissolving sutures and staples (!) were removed at postop +10 days.
At the 2 week point I could carefully apply makeup, trying to avoid the dissolving sutures on my eyes and the base of the nose. At 3 weeks the restrictions came off and the bruising has faded to the point I can do full makeup. An orange corrector/concealer works well on the bruises.
These images are at +5 days while changing bandages, then at +14 without makeup and with makeup.

Thank you both for the information.
I would love to hear about your experiences with Brigitte!
I am very happy with her..
Good luck next month Ritka. May it be all you want!.
Hugs,
Laurie
Rutka71, I am glad you posted this. I am happy you are finally getting yours done! I also am glad to hear about your 2 phased approach to your FFS. My surgeon is doing the same to me, beginning next week. From the nose up now, then from the lip down 6 weeks later.
Best of luck and I think from my research, the upper part of the face for FFS is not as painful as the lower, for some reason.
Hi Michelle_P,
Is it possible to get in contact with you privately?
Greetings,
Sugar
Michelle_P has not been active on Susan's Place for several years. Many people use this site for support during transition, then move on once their transition is complete. Michelle is a friend of mine, and we are still in contact with each other. I will only say that she is doing well, and that she is happy.
