Title: Larynx Abnormalities, will I ever pass?
Post by: LostboyJJ on September 29, 2018, 12:10:25 PM
I was born with a multitude of problems, one being abnormalities to the larynx  (as if you couldnt already guess from the topic). I've always had a high pitched voice that's slightly breathy. It's a huge source of discomfort considering I am ftm. Will I always sound like Minnie mouse?

I know that T deepen voices but I'm worried it won't have the same affect for myself and I'm curious to know if anyone else has dealt with something similar. I'm terrified of being a full bearded man with a voice that many mistake for a little girl's..

There have been a few times when I've gone out presenting as male (pre T, just binder and outfit to hide my hips) and I've spoken up only to have people around me do a double take. One guy in particular looked downright affronted like he had just seen me wipe my bottom with a slice of bread and eat it! It was disconcerting to say the least.

This is my first post so if I did anything wrong just let me know. I thought about putting it under voice therapy and surgery, but I want to know more about what I  can expect from T alone. Thanks!

@LostboyJJ
Dear LostBoyJJ:
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.... and writing your interesting and detailed posting...
Regarding the issues that you mentioned about your voice, the best advice that I can offer is to see a voice therapist, a gender therapist, and/or your doctor to get professional medical advice about future actions that may be able to help.   Also, regarding what you can expect from "T" supplements can be best answered by any FTMs that are reading your thread.

The good news is that because of your posting many of our members are now aware of your arrival here and you can be expecting them to share their thoughts with you relevant to you questions and concerns.
