Title: Changing name with the NHS
Post by: xAmy on September 30, 2018, 08:14:46 AM
Hello, I just wanted to ask about what is needed to do this. I have read a few different things and I'm not sure if there is an official way or if I just need to call my gp receptionist. I have bad anxiety so I was just hoping for a definite answer so I can get it out of the way. I have a deedpoll  and am already in the process of changing name with everyone else. Thanks to anyone who replies <3

I found this document: https://www.ntw.nhs.uk/content/uploads/2018/04/Changing-your-name-and-documents.pdf (https://www.ntw.nhs.uk/content/uploads/2018/04/Changing-your-name-and-documents.pdf)  It is kind of generic about changing your name, some of which you have already done, but it is published by an NHS office, and includes a section on changing your name there.  It sounds like you go through your GP.

Just went and saw receptionist with deed poll , she photo copied it and it was sorted. Very straight forward. Good luck.

Im actually doing all this just now NHS, Driving Licence etc. All MX Alexa, as I feel for Me that title works.. Same as Davina it was photocopied by the GP reception last week and now I'm waiting for them to do the updates.

I think as long as you follow the guidelines its all pretty straightforward, if a little time-consuming. I understand it can be a bit daunting to do all this, however most people I feel will be nice about things. Society has changed a
lot since the 90s.....NHS staff in particular are very good with LGBTQ concerns, and generally go out of their way to be understanding or at least do what they are expected to do as they know working in the public sector its how it is.

Good luck with it all, and stay positive. The UK is ultimately a great place to be if you are Transgender!
