Hi!
I'm 4 years post op.
Next year (2019), I'm embarking on my greatest adventure ever - hiking the Appalachian Trail. Yep, for 4-5 months I'll be basically living out of my tent, and the occasional trip to town for resupplies.
Here's my problem...dilation. I currently dilate once a week.
Obviously I have to take my dilator and lube with me in the trail, but no way could I dilate in my tent, then have to somehow wash my dilator. Ugh!
So I've come to the conclusion my only choice is to plan for every week hitting a town or hostel with a private room to do my "thang."
Curious, I've been always, always dilating once a week. At this point, 4 years post op, can I delay my dilation a few days? Just calculating that if I have to get a room every week, that means more $$$$$ and time off the trail.
I've tried emailing Dr. brassard, but they never respond via email.
Thanks so much.
I have found that I was able to go 10 years without dilation and the only cost was a couple of months with more intense dilation in order to restore the original size. If your sexually active, that could count as a dilation. On the other hand, you could try every other then every third week and see how difficult it is to return to dilation.
I don't know about Brassard, but I know of other women who have had revisions after one year and had to skip dilation for one month. The recover easily enough, but it takes a number of more frequent dilation's to get back to normal.
Given the number of post-op women who get UTI's I'd be a bit concerned about that. Making sure it doesn't happen, and being prepared if it does.
