Title: Stockings, pantyhose, or no?
Post by: Gabrielle66 on October 10, 2018, 06:31:59 PM
So I am thinking of trying to wear something under my male clothes. Just to start to move toward a girl mode feeling. I have already decided to go with panties but I was wondering if any of you had suggestions on whether stockings or pantyhose were nice even under your typical pair of pants or jeans? This is pretty much my typical attire when I do my job, which is desktop support. Any suggestions or advice are very welcome. Love and faith.

I wore pantyhose under my pants on occasion before going full-time.  Be careful as your pants may tend to ride up.

If you are not "out" at work and want to stay that way you can still wear female undergarments and hosiery and even a bra if the bra is a simple cotton no padding bra, usually it can be hidden under perhaps 2 layers of tops... an loose fitting undershirt and a loose fitting regular patterned shirt which can help hide the bra lines....  if you are daring you can even put polish your toenails and a very light color or just a clear gloss overcoat on your fingernails... and even grow your fingernails out and shape them...   you will have to figure out what you can get away with and what makes you feel like a woman within.
It is all up to you and your situation.
Wishing you well,
Danielle

Danielle,

I'm already working on growing my nails out. I can't go too big because well I work on computers. They would just break if they were too long. But I have started shaping them and my nails are pretty thick and grow relatively quickly. I'm learning how to use an emery board. They actually look pretty decent. I'm getting comments about my hair from some of the ladies I work around. They don't perceive it as feminine but they are noticing some extra length and the way it kind of curls up above my ears. The volumizing shampoo and conditioner are really giving my hair some lift. It's kind of cool but at the same time that curl does look a little odd. I will have to do some YouTube research about how to control that hair curl. For anybody interested in trying a new shampoo I will give two thumbs up to Hask chia seed oil volumizing shampoo and conditioner. God I love the smell of this stuff. I wish that they had a body wash with this same scent. I would love to bathe in that. It's sensual. Love and faith.

Have a look at bralettes and maybe you could get some cute womens socks?

Unfortunately i am always thinking of reuse. So 30 denier panty hose work for me. You can get them with different designs. I think stockings and corset or g-string are much sexier but where I go I don't show my sexy.

*smiles* Nor me do I show my sexy at work. I love that phrase Dawn, "show my sexy" ... we all have our sexy! To get my government job I had to cut my lovely long blond hair  :icon_cry2: and hide my sexy. :(

Today I had to go and get my official ID with picture for this year and of course my sexy was hidden. I'm in the wig club now away from work and not sure if I will ever be able to grow my own hair out again. I needed this job, the benefits are amazing.

As far as the OP, my fav thing to do is wear an A cup bra which fits me well and does push a little out to make some wonder but does not out me at work. But, it feels so good to have my "girls" supported and "out" a bit. :)

Either are fine, great for underdressing, and delightfully feminine. Why not experiment and see which you prefer, or, wear thigh highs some days and pantyhose on other days. (Not stockings with garter belt or OBG, though—the straps are too noticeable under pants.) I've often done it, but wore men's socks over the hose to protect "my secret." A couple things to consider: pantyhose rule out standing at a urinal to pee, and buy good quality thigh highs that fit you so that they don't end up around your ankles just as you are walking into your boss's office for a meeting. I understand the need. I've underdressed most of my adult life (and I agree with the advice given above about stealth bra-wearing). Nancy

Hi Gabrielle,
Whatever you prefer for underwear is of no concern to others.  Panties, camisoles stockings are all fair game and pretty discrete, though of course your ankles will show when you're sitting.  You can wear socks over the stockings if that's a concern. I don't know what your taste in shoes is, but I went through a period a while back where I wore trouser socks off the women's rack and some neutral women's running shoes.  That felt pretty comfortable.

I agree with others. Pantyhose is your go to garment for underdressing.

Hose under pants will likely warm you up more than you are used to. They will act as a thermal layer. That just may come in handy during winter.

Thank you so much to everyone that shared their experiences and advice about undergarments. I feel inspired to not only dip my toes into the panty pool but I am definitely interested in trying the pantyhose as well. Still trying to keep things going slow for my wife but I'm very excited to begin allowing myself to be myself. I was over looking on Amazon and there are so many choices in panties and for pantyhose. How can anybody ever decide? I am thinking about going with the boy short style for support purposes. I'm torn between something lacy or something satiny. So many pretty choices. Love and faith.

Gabrielle, Word of caution about panties: some boy short styles, although cute, are loose fitting at the crotch and do not hold in the "bits" as you might want. Cute and functional are not always the same. Many t-girls look for panties with more substantial gussets such as Vanity Fair (which happens to be my preferred brand). Another factor is whether you want nylon (for the silky feel) or microfiber (that can give you more choices of patterns and will hold you more firmly through the day). BTW, as someone mentioned above, cami's are wonderful for underdressing. You can find them in sensuous fabrics and delightful colors. Have fun! Nancy

Wearing a bra gives a really feminine sensation, and even if you have only a very little up top, you will appreicate the support.

Some tips to avoid being caught:

Nancy,

I appreciate this advice. In my mind the boyshort seemed like the closest thing to say a boxer and that's why I was thinking that it was have more support. Not that I have a lot to support but there is something so I guess I'd ask for suggestions on what specific style might be best for a bit more support. I'm on the larger side but working my way down. I've 5'6" and about 228. I carry most of my weight in my midsection. Any suggestions on an ideal style and brand would be awesome. I planned on making an order today :) I'm excited to be doing this. Love and faith.

Pantyhose work great under slacks, not quite so well under jeans.  Be sure to keep your nails in good shape to avoid ruining them. And you will have to sit to pee, which is not really a bad thing.
Try wearing a thin cami or tank with a bit of lace trim under a dress shirt to make you feel more girly. Remember that colors often show through a white shirt, (which for me is a plus!)

I am a Vanity Fair girl, and many t-girls wear them because of the wide gusset. Soma brand are also popular and Soma stores are known to be comfortable with and used to men buying panties and bras for themselves. I've bought there "in drab" and always been treated respectfully. Many t-girls like hi-cut briefs or hipsters, but I prefer full-cut or "granny" panties which you might find most comfortable if you have a bit of a tummy. But, why not buy a variety of styles and experiment. BTW, HerRoom has a page for men with recommendations and reviews for panties for men. Another trans-friendly online store. Nancy

I wear pantyhose daily and don't have a problem with peeing standing up.  I used to wear stockings daily, but the ones I wore were discontinued and since my panties and garter belts were getting beat up, I switched to pantyhose full time.

Anne,

When you are wearing pantyhose do you wear panties underneath them or do you just wear the pantyhose by themselves? Something about that sound exhilarating but is there some kind of an issue with friction if you don't have panties under the pantyhose? Love and faith.

Stockings and garter (suspender) belts are a complex regime. Don't go there without experience!

Garter belts for every day wear need to be deep and supportive with at least six suspenders with metal clasps. It's an industrial operation. You need to wear them like a corset.

Sexy belts with four sphagetti staps are for the bedrooom only.

And, unfortunately, the stockings can be disappointing. Forget lacy tops, you need plain welts for your suspenders.

But having got the rig set up, you will feel like nothing on earth. Your suspenders, stocking tops plus bra straps will place you in complete bondage!

Historical note about pantyhose:
The SEALs in 'Nam would wear ph under their greens when wading the swamps, then just peel the leaches off along with removing the hose!
I have found some utility wearing them for hiking to prevent thigh chaffing, but only in cool weather.

While being in complete bondage does sound sexy I don't think that's where I need to be on a daily basis at the moment. I appreciate the very clear picture you painted with your description though. Is it a bit warm in here?

I'm thinking a combination for pantyhose to pair with slacks and panties of maybe a couple of styles would fit the bill perfectly. I can try different things on various days and discover what I like the best. You ladies are so awesome. I just love being able to come here and ask these things that seem awkward at home and you all make me feel like just one of the girls. This is the only place that I ever feel that way. I am working on changing that though. Love and faith.

Jin,

It's kind of funny you mention having to sit to pee. That is one of the first things I tried doing when I made my personal discovery about my gender identity. I can't tell you how much I love to sit while peeing. It has to be the one thing that stands out, pun intended, of the things that feel most natural about feeling feminine. It just feels right. I'm taking things one step at a time but the cami idea sounds wonderful. I rarely wear a standard white dress shirt. I am pretty much you typical button down short sleeves and the occasional polo. Love and faith.

Without proper measurements I guessed really well. Just a bit snug but so smooth and soft. They feel so nice. I am looking forward to wearing them to work tomorrow. I think I'm going with the pink pair. Not sure about when I will try the pantyhose. It's crazy that guys don't have underwear like this. I went with a hipster style to start with and I already love how they are just enough but don't seem like the stereotypical granny panties. So yeah, I'm super happy with my first choice  :D

Gabrielle:

For me the thinner fabrics and more room, less fabric around the shoulders & hips, is more comfortable than the old stuff; in addition to it just feeling right.

In socal you might not be as comfortable in hose because your legs, under other clothing, will warm up.

I've worn hose while crossdressing.  Where I really came to like it is on the cold winter midwest days where I was going to be outside for a while. Hose under jeans kept my feet & legs nice & comfortable.

I will also add that properly fitting hose will massage your legs some.   That is pleasant at the end of a day.

As for underwear, now that I'm full time beneath the outer wear, I find myself color coordinating with the day's outfit.

It's amazing what I can do now that I have options other than white.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of thigh-highs, but pantyhose seems to be more easily manageable. More often than not, my cute thigh highs roll down my leg and make a big ugly clump under my pants. Ultimately, I guess it comes down to your preferences.

If I could find a way to better hide my garter belt, I think I'd wear thigh highs almost constantly.

As for color, I'm a fan of plain black stockings or hosiery. For some reason it makes me feel professional and lady-like. Almost like I have all my s*** together!

Kisses!

I never cared for stay up stockings.  I found they didn't.   ;)

I never had an issue with a garter belt under pants.  Of course, some belts are less bulky than others and so hide better.  It also helps to keep a lot of junk in your pockets.  I wore stockings and garter belt daily, including to work, for years.

OMG I love the feeling! It's odd, I wasn't sure that it would have much effect or not wearing panties. I'm sure that some of it is just a novelty feeling but I absolutely love the way that these feel. They are so thin and smooth. They hug me just right. I am certain that I got the right size for myself. Anything larger would have been too big. I'm not all aroused or anything but it just feels good. I actually feel like something is right about my clothes. How is it that something as simple as a pair of underwear can hold so much power? All I know is that I feel good and I feel just a bit happier than I did yesterday. There really isn't much more you can ask for than that. Feeling feminine is awesome! Love and faith.

Gabrielle, Now you can underdress and wear them to work...part of the challenge will be to not be distracted by what you are wearing. Eventually I suspect the feeling will normalize. I feel a confirmation of my femininity each day when I slip on my undies in the morning, then don't really give them a second thought during the day—except when I use the restroom. I think of panties as "gender confirmation underwear." :-) Nancy

Nancy,

I totally understand what you are saying. I don't feel distracted today at all. The only thing is that I just feel better. It's so hard to actually describe it but I just feel more right. Of course, going into the bathroom and seeing them when I have to use the services is just a bonus to have my own visual reminder. I feel really happy that I did this. I can't imagine ever wanting to not wear them again. It's so crazy to me that a pair of underwear can have such a positive effect on my gender identity. It just feels good. Love and faith.

Sister, I understand where your coming from.   IT JUST FEELS RIGHT!!!!  The thinner fabrics are cooler.  I also noted that the additional room around the joints is also much more comfortable and, in my case, I didn't develop 'the walk' this time in Anaheim!!!

For those of you who don't know 'the walk' is something that is frequently observed in the Universal, Sea World, & Disney theme parks.....

About 30 years ago, it was a trend to wear nylon stockings even in summer. Nowadays, I still see a few women wearing nylon stockings in summer. I guess they seem to think that exposing bare legs is a kind of discourtesy.

I prefer thigh-high nylon stockings because of some hygienic issues in my buttocks. I always wear cotton work gloves before wearing stockings, as they are so much delicate.

Or perhaps they realize bare legs expose all the flaws that hose hides.  It really amazes me how much effort a woman will put into looking nice and then ruin it all by going bare legged.  Very few women have legs nice enough that they can get away without hosiery.

Colored hose and tights are a style of their own, but it's been out of style to wear nude/suntan hose for all but the most formal of events for about decade. It about the freedom to rock your own legs, not hiding flaws.

I have never had any success with hold-ups. I have always had to return home and change into a garter belt.

Stockings and garter belts are gorgeous, but so fiddly, and I generally now go for panty hose unless it's a special occasion, or if I am wearing fishnets.

What I love is that the pantyhose is now available in "tum & bum" shaping options, which provide a "bra for the bum", which I really do need!

So yeah, pantyhose. I love them. How do women not wear these every single day along with a skirt or dress. OMG I want to wear a skirt or dress with them. Now my only problem was in selecting the wrong size for me. The length was a bit too long but the waist is too small. They just want to roll down to my lower waist. If they did not roll down I would be in absolute Heaven right now. They are better than panties! I seriously love the sensation they give on my legs and how they fit nice and snug over my butt and privates. I'm kind of a grower not a shower so I don't even need to tuck to feel nearly smooth. Unless I got amazingly turned on nobody could ever tell that there was anything more down there. So I will have to find another brand or size that deals better with my belly area. It's where I carry almost all of my weight. My legs are not half bad as far as shape goes. With the pantyhose on they look extremely nice. I am just having the hardest time believing so many negative comments from women who hate them. I have to imagine it's more about the lack of quality that the overall feel. They feel sexy to me. YAY PANTYHOSE!!! Love and faith.

Hey Gabrielle,

I love pantyhose and stockings! I have a large and ever growing collection! I wear them with dresses and skirts and love matching them with an outfit. I also love the feel of them when wearing.
The only reason I might not wear them is if its too hot. I do have some very elaborate breathable patterns but they don't always go with what I want to wear so I go bare instead-  until evening when its cool enough to put on something simple and sheer.
Many women do love them too, some can't be bothered, some prefer wearing jeans of pants so don't need to, some want to wear sneakers and the look doesn't work for it.

Word of warning though - keep velcro well away from stockings - it will literally shred and ruin them at one touch.

Take care,

Sonja.

@Gabrielle66

Hey Gabrielle,

Thanks Sonja,

I don't really get anywhere near velcro on a regular basis but I will certainly keep that in mind as I continue my newfound love for pantyhose  :) Love and faith.

Colored hose and tights are a style of their own, but it's been out of style to wear nude/suntan hose for all but the most formal of events for about decade. It about the freedom to rock your own legs, not hiding flaws.

Yes. Despite some flaws such as a wart, I prefer bare legs. In fall and winter, I wear hose and tights for warming my legs while accentuating leg lines. Nylon hoses are too delicate and yesterday alone a pair were torn. I prefer crotch-open fishnets as they are far more endurable and hygienic with more warming.
