Title: She did it!
Post by: ErinAscending on October 19, 2018, 05:40:42 PM
Sooooo. I've been rather afraid during the last four months that my little issue was going to send my wife to the hospital with a heart attack or she was just going to break and turn suicidal.  Things have been bad enough, often enough with her that she recently did go into her Dr.'s on an emergency appointment because she took her BP at a supermarket and it came in at 196/134.

She's starting to come down on that a bit now as they prescribed BP meds and a beta blocker which I guess also has anti-anxiety properties as well, thank god!  But in other news, I have been deliberately trying to guide her into therapy this entire time so she could have someone to turn to and discuss her needs and who could be just for her and on her side.  She is a therapist herself and it has been really difficult for her to accept that she needs to see someone even if they aren't as good as she is.   ;D  After all she is reeeeeealy good at what she does!  ;D

On to the point.  She surprised me last week when she asked me if I wanted her to come to one of my therapy appointments.  I said yes (of course) and we attended that appointment today.  Not only did I hear things about what's been going on with her that didn't know cause she wasn't telling me, she actually listened to what I said and seemed to understand without automatically turning it into her worst case nightmare and then assuming her misunderstandings to be cold truth.  It was really nice to be able to talk to her again...   It was really nice.  At the end of the session my therapist recommended she simply stop by the front desk with me to schedule more appointments for myself, and maybe schedule one for her as well...

She did it!

We may not make it through this.  We may defy the odds.  But the one thing I had to do at all costs was make sure she was going to be okay and in that vein things look a little brighter this afternoon.

Thanks for reading.  You all may not know it because I haven't said it yet but having all of you here to read about your life success and life concerns, have offered me great solace through what have been four months of hell.  I will have more hell to deal with in the future as there is no way to avoid the fact this is difficult on all sides for me and my family.  Just want to say thank you in advance as I will be here reading and taking my solace though that as well.  Thank you all you beautiful people!

Erin,

That is wonderful to hear how your wife has made a decision to be open to what you are going through and join you at a session. How amazing it is to have communication with the one that you love most in the world. I'm praying for you as a couple to find the joy that you deserve to be able to share together. Love and faith.

Erin;

Congratulations on the step forward.  My prayers are with you.

I feel your pain because I'm in the same situation.  Hopefully we're not too far behind you in getting an expanded conversation going.

Again Congratulations on the step forward.

Kate
