Trans activist crosses the line (blog)

The recent remarks by Meredith Bacon, president of the board of the National Center for Transgender Equality, denouncing the Human Rights Campaign's handling of the ENDA debate, serve as a vivid and disappointing reminder of why the trans movement hasn't progressed as far as the gay rights movement.

Wow those white gay males just hate it when the transgender community gets all uppity and refuses to keep quiet. Genie is out of the bottle, we cannot and should not keep our mouths shut. Only one person is going to be able to ultimately speak for you and that person looks back at you in the mirror. Get active!

This article is just one big HUH!!

The trans are one who but kicked the gays out of their caves where they were hiding.

When I read such regurgitated pablum it just makes me want to use the
BFG (big f*** gun or Doom lore (or is it Quake?)) and  go medieval on their asses  ???

When they can't get a job or get pounded on the street just for existing, then they can talk.

The irony is that the gays that need most the original ENDA are those that are most like us,
who have a non normative gender expression.

I think in some ways this might be a good sign, being told by the transphobic gayboys and lesbians to STFU.  It means we're being noticed by them.  And any notoce is better than no notice at all.

I think it can actually help our cause to have the Gs and Ls screaming like this about the Ts, as we may have many more opportunities for media access if for no other reason than to provide so-called 'balance' to some story.

Keep it up!

<Now where'd I put that missile launcher?>

This guy just doesn't get it does he?

The HRC is done.

They screwed up beyond repair.

O, I think he 'gets' it alright, Sarah. He 'gets' that he thinks he is 'respectable' and accepted and would have all the benefits of being a regular citizen if the Ts would simply disappear.

As is often the case, respectability is tenuous and certainly not his. One could very well make the argument that if the was no tie-in between gay males that TSes would be seen differently.

That argument though, seems just as specious as his.

Fact is, people who are 'different' are being discovered and rooted out constantly.

But, he and everyone else are allowed to dream.

HRC is not done. They are heavily supported by big money sponsors who think just like they do. This is just another attack against the T community in a long series of attacks across the decades.

Hum,

I can honestly say that I do not like any of the things that have come out of HRC recently at all...and all of the trans people I know have withdrawn their support for that organization.

What a lot of people don't see it that HRC is trying to throw it's weight around and intimidate those organizations that signed on to United ENDA. I am working for just such an organization here in Missouri myself and I am amazed at the crap HRC tries to pull. The president of PROMO came to me and told me of a recent meeting with HRC; in the meeting HRC said they wouldn't be able to work with us unless we withdrew from United ENDA...now the problem is that it's an election  year and we usually get help from HRC to help cover the State issues and such and last election we got 2 full timers loaned to us from HRC...so they do have pull in the community because of their size and money...

I was honest with AJ (he's the president of PROMO) and told him that if it comes down to it, as the only trans member of the organizations board that I will walk out in protest if the board votes to work with HRC during the next board meeting...and that it would seriously jeopardized the organizations relations with the trans community in the state if it comes to that...

HRC is playing some rather nasty games and most of them are not even being brought to the publics attention...so I just thought I would share some of my experiences with HRC.

Peace and love,
