So the other day, I went out to get myself some formal wear for a career fair I am going to this week.
I was in a department store, getting shoes (man shoes because I still present as male in public) but I just had an urge to go try on a pair of heels. I've had this feeling dozens of times before, but this day I actually said 'screw it. I'm trying on some heels'. I found a pair, they fit perfectly, and I felt better than I ever did before in my life. I didn't buy them (as much as I wanted to) because I was a little short on money, but then it got me thinking that next time, maybe I will buy a cute pair of heels.
So I was just curious: How did it feel the first time you wore high heels (or some other clothes) in public?

There should be no no maybe about it next time buy yourself a pair of heels girl do yourself a favor make sure that they are not high heels like really really high cuz I have so many pair of 3 inch heels and my ankles kill me in them.
But it made me feel free light as a feather floating in the clouds absolutely wonderful my first time that I dressed in my proper gender in public

I love wearing heels. Makes me feel so fem. I honestly don't remember my first experience. I go and try them on when I can find some in my size (13 Wide). Often my local Nordstrom Rack has some. I've bought two pairs from them.

Beware, shoes can be addictive, once you start buying them you may lose control :) I'm thinking of buying another shoe cabinet because I can't fit all my shoes into the existing one.
When I went out the first time in public I was quite sure I would have a chance of passing but I was still very nervous at the beginning. I almost sprained my ankle while I was hurrying to the train station in my heels. After I calmed down a little it was a fantastic experience and it felt surprisingly natural.
Hello JannaLM
I find wearing heels to be one of the more affirming signs of my femininity and it all has always felt so exciting.
I recall my first public walk in heels and it felt so exhilaring. Each step is pure pleasure!
Hugs

That's what I usually feel when I go out wearing high heels but after a few hours long shopping trip it's more like "Each step is pure pain!" :D

That is so true it always starts out the most pleasurable experience and then turns into the most painful experience but you still love every second of it because it's you

Last year, I bought online some more sensible 'block heels' only 2.5" high - black suede ankle boots, for going out with rather than posing at home. First time I wore them felt great, though they took some getting used to when walking on solid concrete. After a few times wearing them, one local lady said she loved them & would wear them herself!
Fast forward to this weekend, I went out to a local bar wearing the boots, girls jeans with subtle flower embroidery, a girls see-through blouse over a female tank tee, eye-liner & nail polish. Nobody got upset if they even noticed that much.
It's all good, as I add a little bit more each time ;-) xoxo
The thickness of heel, rather than the height, mostly determines how much comfortable they are to walk on. Stiletto heels can be painful to walk on, but block heels and wedge sandals are easy.

Omg yes I have a pair of believe they're between 3 and 5 in thigh high leather stilettos I can't walk in them I'm lucky if I can stand in them the back is so thin now this is a question that I'm hoping maybe one of you can answer are we supposed to walk on our balls of our feet or on our heels or do we do both evenly because I do have a little trouble figuring that out usually I do heel first when I step down

Wearing heels takes practice. You can easy see watching women which ones are comfortable in heels, they move smoothly and have good balance as they walk. Buy a comfortable pair not real high, 2-3 in to start and wear them around the house for a few days before going out in public.

Walking on both balls and heels will be comfortable. I have ordered the following ones yesterday, and the heel height (13 cm = 5 inch) does not cause so much problem, owing to the bulky heels and platforms.

I've never worn a pair of heels before but I have watched plenty of videos about walking in them. They all say heel to toe is the proper way to walk in heels regardless of heel style. I really want to get a pair and learn to walk in them. For me, heels and a dress are my idea of the perfect feminine moment. Love and faith.

Well that's good to know because I do walk heel-to-toe and if you go for heels I would definitely do like everybody on here to saying go for thick heels first because they provide a lot more stability and are so much easier to walk in

Your boots do not have platforms and I guess it can be painful to walk in them.
I also have ordered the following one, which have thick platforms.

See I thought heels were the platforms but you really could possibly explain exactly what platforms are to me and I'm sure some of the other ladies here would like to know if they don't LOL please

Haha! I wear heels at work, 14 hours a day five days a week. Definitely affirming, especially when you master the stride! I look forward to taking them off and switching out for my sneakers when I head home.
Trim those toe nails! Long nails hurt in heels and can painfully break.
Go buy those heels, and most stores can order larger sizes if they are available. I am lucky to fit a 10W.
Update:
Hey girls!
I finally got myself a pair of heels and the fit perfectly!
I decided that since it is almost my birthday, I should do myself a favor and get myself a birthday present, which included a dress, heels, and some bras. They got here today and I tried everything on, all of it fit perfectly, and I just am in love with all of this stuff already.
The heels are about 3-4 inches, and really comfortable for the most part at size 11. I think my feet might still be a little wide for it (But I am kind of overweight, so I think when I slim down my muffin top it would also thin out my feet a little bit!). I think I might be a natural at walking in heels because I was wearing them around my home for like an hour and only stumbled once. (I know it's probably just because my home is really small, like 700 sq feet but don't kill my buzz!)
Anyway, I just wanted to share with everybody that I've finally caught up and got some cute heels!

Janna,
Welcome to the high-heel club! Be forewarned though, buying ladies shoes can be addictive (ask me how I know). I think the thing that amazes me most about heels is that it is usually impossible to tell how comfortable they will be just by looking at them. I have shoes with lower heels that are downright painful almost immediately, yet I have a pair with four inch heels that I can wear comfortably for hours. These days though, I'm mostly into boots, both tall shaft boots and ankle boots, usually with a higher block heel.
Hugs,
Sally
@sally0196
Well you told me to ask how you know that buying shoes can be addictive. So how can it be addictive? I only want to buy like 8 trillion new pairs now. It can't be THAT addictive.
@Arianna Valentine
Thank you so much sweetie!
You girls are all awesome and I am so glad I found my way onto this site!
Kisses!
-Janna
Because Janna, I really don't need any more shoes, yet I continue to buy. That has to be addiction. Of course there is the phrase: "a girl can't have too many pairs of shoes."
Hugs,
Sally
Because my feet have shrunk a bit I can now wear the Payless shoes I bought a year ago. Just wore them for the first time last Wednesday. I think I need a little training. and they are only two inch wedges. I cannot even think of dancing in 5" heels. I got a pair a couple years ago and when I put them on the heel broke in half and you can guess where I ended up.

It is true that sounds like an addiction but you must have a pair of shoes for every outfit and yes a woman cannot have enough pairs of shoes
Sent from my LG-LS777 using Tapatalk
In my previous guy life I had like two pairs of runners (exact same style, so I could rotate them) and a pair of leather shoes for work/special occasions. Other than flip flops for around the house and summer that was it.
But now I have 5 completely different styles of footware. No high heals yet, cause I am self-conscious of my height (feel tall enough already).
I don't think I am addicted, but love having a choice. You may well laugh at only five pairs, but for me that is a huge difference.
Luckily, I have narrow feet and can fit comfortably into 10 or 11's depending on the shoe.
Enjoy your heels Janna.
I thought I would break my ankles when I wear anything higher than your average male heal!
I found out that my feet get really tired in those loafer style shoes that have hardly any heal at all. The shoes I feel most comfortable in have the block or wedge type heals between 2 and 3 1/2 inches. I can march in those things across town and back, and can wear them all day long!

I have noticed that any with either a wedge or a really big heel are so much easier to walk in

I don't even consider stiletto style heals. Most cis women can't walk in them properly, and they have many years of training to do do. I like the bigger, medium high heals and will stick with them!
Anyway, how would it look like if a 6' tall Nordic person walks in these things, probably like one of the Walkures from the Wagner operas!
