Title: Labiaplasty Electrolysis
Post by: purplewuggybird on October 25, 2018, 05:58:59 PM
Hi everyone,

I had a question for anyone who has completed electrolysis pre-labiaplasty (NOT pre-vaginoplasty). I recently had my partial vaginoplasty done (!!!), and my surgeon is requesting me to complete electrolysis around the clitoris prior to my upcoming labiaplasty. I am very uncomfortable about getting genital electrolysis done, and when pressed, my surgeon said that the electrolysis was "optional" due to "hygiene issues." Does anyone know what they mean by hygiene issues due to no pre-labiaplasty electrolysis, and how does the electrolysis prevent issues?

I personally don't know the only thing that I could think of that could potentially be a risk with hairs is ingrown hairs getting infected and could possibly cause some serious issues

I had mine done with laser and a couple of hours of Electrolysis to finish off I am going for my third and final hour session in a couple of weeks. I found it far better and easier than my top lip. I was really surprised as I figured it would hurt much more. I used Numbit and cling wrap...laser worked but only to a point and left all the white and greys behind. Good luck

That should not be a problem.  I made my living in pre- & postoperative infection control & prevention (kind of clening up after bodged surgeries)
Ingrown hairs are just a problem for the outer layers of the dermis.  I don't know how this doc turns the skin flaps.  It might be that he uses some of the skin for the new clitoral hood, and the hair would grow to the inside of the hood and could not be removed there.  Or it would be used for any position that is turned in a way that would make hair removal impossible?
I really don't know enough about these procedures to make a sound judgement why the hair removal is requested.

I better get my act into gear and learn about it, because I want this done to me, too!

I have read some place where women were saying that they did not get the laser hair removal or just general hair removal down there before they fully replaced their parts and hair would start growing on the inside as well which as you can imagine if you end up being intimate with another person can be quite discouraging
