I was at my psychologist today, and we were talking about possible bottom surgery for me, and doing a little small talk about the general subject. We have a very good relation, and conduct most of our conversations in German, because she wants to keep it up after she had studied in Austria.
Anyway some transgender folks (MtF) seem not to now very much of the female genitals they plan to get. She had several of her patients wondering how they would urinate, once they had their penis chopped of! She had two of her patients wondering, if females urinate through their clitoris, and were wondering how it would work with them, because they don't have a clitoris. Others were wondering if their anus would become their vagina!
She said that about 1/3 of her patients do not really know how that is with a vulva, clitoris and vagina!
And one can see again, there are no dumb questions!
:o ;D
Those misconceptions are hard to believe, but then I do believe it.
Some gay men have only seen one woman naked up close and that was during their birth. :)

Well there was the one life study class for me where I had to draw a model but I didn't exactly go up and stare. ;)
Well, I have seen many naked women during my job. But the situation was not really sexy, or intriguing to get sexy thoughts!
My gosh. You would think that any man who wants to become a woman would know before hand. How would you know you want to be a woman without that kind of knowledge. Blows me away.

Well they know that a woman has "a beaver" between her legs, but have no detailed knowledge how this part might look like. They might have gotten their sex ed, in an back alley by some "knowing" friends?

I'm not insinuating that I didn't have a idea of how it all worked. I read the sex education books. But I didn't see any out in the wild.
Also I wouldn't consider being trans a choice. The choice was to come out or not.
It just shows to demonstrate the whoa-fully inadequate sex education/basic anatomy programs we have in this country (or the world for that matter).

Is it, or is it not that bad. I am pretty sure that my son knows the details on how female parts function! On the other hand, he is a very handsome man, and could have had any girl he wanted, and he had several girlfriends. I don't know how deep they went into the details of the female neither anatomy, but who knows?

Yeah no kidding, it is amazing. Even if you had little or no sexual experience with women you would think they would have researched it - not exactly hard to find the info. Peeing through a clitoris? Anus as a vagina? What the bleep?
WOW !!
Sadly I am not surprised but it is still shocking.
Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.

I learn something new everyday.
Sometimes it's the obvious, sometimes the obscure.
It all depends on your life experiences and everyone's are unique.
That is a generous view Jessica, I am not being sarcastic. I tend to be more judgmental sometimes than I should be of people that are not educated on a subject or not very bright. I still find those views astonishing but yeah I must agree we all have different life experiences but I just have a hard time comprehending those beliefs.
I suppose I should realize that there are people smarter and more knowledgeable than I am (of which there are many lol)
and they would be shocked at my lack of knowledge. OK.... I am still scratching my head but with a little more compassion.

I have to say that I live in South west Florida, and as far as I know, the education system is not really up to par with the one we know from the Nordland (my wife taught at a School of Education of the U of Wisconsin, and has a pretty good knowledge about the education systems of the different states). Florida is not one with shining colors!
Thi might be one of the reason for this absolute ignorance on female body parts?
I'll be honest with you. I was married to a cis-straight woman for 32 years. I assure you I know my way around the female bits better than she does. But I'll not sure I would be about to label each part exactly and where one technically starts and the next begins.
Maybe I should look it all up as a refresher since surgery is in 24 hours.

I had zero sex education at home, and zero sex education in school. And I remained a virgin until my 30s. And yet, between encyclopedias and porn (magazines in those days), I had a pretty good idea what was where. These days, with Google and online porn, there is no excuse for that level of ignorance.

I grew up in Ontario and got sex ed both at home and school. However, a few months ago, we got a new Premier that actually rolled back the sex ed program to one that was about 20 years old. He did this mainly to cater to the religious types, the ones who claim it should be taught at home, but then don't teach it.
BTW, in the few months he's been in office, it's apparent he's the most corrupt Premier to hit the province, at least that I'm aware of.
I was married to a woman for 32 years. I knew my way around down there pretty darn well. But I don't know all the technical terms for everything.

You are no required to know all the medical terms for female parts, because you do not need to write a paper on the subject.
But I et you know the laywoman's terms for them, and what they are supposed to do!
