Hello everyone!
I just got started on estradiol patches, however I'm not taking any Tblockers. The doctor I saw said that there have been recent studies that suggest taking estrogen for some time before tblockers can cause more breast growth. I've never heard that before, but I'm going along with it for ththe time being.
That being said I was wondering if any of you have taken E alone and how it affected your bodies and minds.

Jasmine, congratulations on starting HRT!
I started estradiol and spiro at the same time, so I do not have the experience to answer your question.
Hi there! That's very interesting and could explain (maybe) why some women notice an increase in breast growth after srs or an orchi. I believe most people do tend to stop spiro after those sugeries... Another reason to look forward to being off spiro for good!
Congrats on starting and keep us posted! We're here for support anytime [emoji4]

I should be starting hormones soon, but I've been on dutasteride for almost 2 years. Hopefully those reports are wrong.
I started on estradiol patches only. After four months my nipples were really sore, but not much growth to speak of. My estrogen was around 54, and my testosterone was still over 600. We added spironolactone. Within the next few months I started seeing more breast development, but still not much. At the eight month point my estrogen was around 65, and my testosterone was down to 100, We bumped up the dose of spiro. At that point my breasts had a growth spurt. After a year my testosterone was, as my doctor stated, insanely low. My estrogen was still only 64, so she doubled the patches. At 1yr 4 months my estrogen had jumped up to 240, but sadly no more breast growth.
Estrogen alone did help my behavior quite a bit, but getting rid of the testosterone was what really made the difference in my journey. However as with any treatment, YMMV.
Love always -- Jessica Rose
Congratulations!
That is an interesting statement that your doctor made. I haven't heard that one before.
Anyways, have you stayed off smoking? :)
I can neither confirm nor deny that I have quit smoking lol. In all seriousness I'm giving myself today and tomorrow to smoke all that I want and once the new year begins, well new year new me in many ways. I won't have a problem quitting now, I have a reason not to.
And I most certainly will give updates Allison 😁
Thanks to everyone giving me their stories
I started estrogen a month before spiro, but I am taking finasteride for many years now. I had already breasts prior to starting any HRT. My nipples are pretty much hurting all the time for quite some while, but I cannot see any real breast growth other than I have by mother nature herself.
I started spiro because estrogen made my feet swell, and the water pill (spiro) took care of this.
Hello Jasmine
I am almost 11 months HRT with both Estradiol Patches and Blocker and like others I have never heard of your doctor's hypothesis about E only at first but your doctor must have some evidence to substantiate.
Congratulations on starting HRT. Its a wonderful feeling as you apply the first patch, isn't it? Welcome to the rollercoaster ride!

Until you find out that your skin breaks out in blisters to no end, like mine did! The pills sound way better for me!
Jasmine,
Congratulations on starting HRT. :) :)

I do not have that problem. Did that happen to you direct or did it develop over the time?

I had the patch that needs to be on for one week at a time, and I would say a few days in, I first felt an itch, and it started to hurt later. Wenn I removed the patch, halve of the area was covered with blisters, which healed very slowly.
Congrats on achieving this milestone. Hopefully the Red Tape Tango was not too bad for you. I am dancing mine now. God Willing, I am on the final dance number and will begin mine in mid January. I have been an overly excited, nervous wreck waiting for it. Explains why I have put on the pounds. :(
You should definitely stop all smoking. Human lungs were not designed to constantly inhale smoke of any kind. It is bad for your health and most guys, nowadays, prefer women who don't smoke. The jury is still out on vaping. I don't know if the FDA is regulating that industry or not. You have no idea of what they are putting in there and it is still coating your lungs. I have noticed that people are vaping way more than they smoked. I think that has to do with being able to do it just about anywhere, like when smoking was everywhere prior to the 1980s. Either way you slice it, you will be saving yourself a ton of money.
Congratulations on starting HRT. I started on the 28th of December (like 3 days ago) with only the patch and no blockers yet. Doc says my potassium is too high at the moment to start spirol......I will be following your progress to see how our mileage compares.

Smoking pot recently became legal in Canada. After all those years of declining tobacco use, we now have an increase in smokers. They seem to think smoking pot doesn't carry similar risks to tobacco.

That sounds terrible! I change my patches on mondays and thursdays, so I use 2 patches a week. The brand is Estradot from Novartis. I have used them for around three weeks now and I really like them. :)

It depends very much on the kind of skin you have. I never got adult skin (I never really went through much of a puberty), and my skin is as sensitive as the skin of a kid. A twice a week patch may have worked, but I'd rather use the pill sublingual, and bypass the liver that way.

I have the wonderful joy of being highly allergic to it. Just the smell of that pungent odor sets me off, whether it is just the plant, oil or smoke. I was at a Wally World (Walmart) here in Louisiana where they passed that faux "medical" marijuana shinola. There on the shelf in the clearance isle was a case of olive oil. I picked up a bottle to see if it was REAL, unadulterated olive oil when the smell hit me. By that time, it was too late. The bottle was leaking and I got the oil on my hands. Turns out, it was some hippie juice concoction of fake olive oil (adulterated) that was infused with cannabis oil (3-5%). The smell was nauseating. As I was trying to wipe the oil onto whatever I could find on the shelf, I started to get ill. I ran to the restroom to wash it off. Along with the severe head and earaches, I get extremely angry. The problem with cannabis pungency is the complex organic molecule has a lingering effect. So one little tiny whiff last for 20 minutes or longer. The more exposure that I have to this toxin, the more enraged I get. If you want to see me go all Incredible Hulk, that is the way to do it. >:-) Thanks to those insipid vaping devices, people are vaping cannabis oil everywhere, without any concern of others. Who is to stop them? There are zero laws on the matter and decriminalization means that he Police won't do a darn thing, in fear of an ACLU attack. So driving around New Orleans with the car windows down and the sunroof open; forget it. Riding bicycles thru the neighborhoods in the evening with my Son; forget it. Going to parades, concerts, Riverwalk, Zoo, City Park, movie theater, my kid's speech therapy clinic, or life in general, is out of the question. Heck, can't even work in my shed or swim in the pool sometimes when someone on the street behind us enjoys their "all natural medicine".
Sorry to get all huffy about this ladies. I am allergic to tobacco smoke, as well, and the thought of having to endure all that suffering and trauma from the Big Tobacco years again has left me with high anxiety and stress.

Sorry to hear of your previous reaction to patches and glad you are happy with the tablets.

Congratulations on starting HRT December 28th - E Patches - as I said above it is a wonderful feeling as you apply the first patch providing you do not suffer any skin anti-reaction of course. Welcome to the rollercoaster ride!
I wish you every success.

I am also on the twice weekly patches and I change every 84 hours. Good to see you started them in December and that you are really enjoying them. I wish every success to you also.
Hugs to all

The very ironie herewith is that the transdermal delivery systems were "invented" in our labs, and that large sections of my body were covered with test patches to find out which adhesive works best for most people (every one of us labies was covered with patches), but we always applied the patches to our backs, arms and legs, never to the lower belly as is suggested with estrogen patches. And because of this, I never had an allergic reaction from all those patches, because none of my other skin seems to be as sensitive as the skin on my lower belly.
I worked on my case with the lab, and they look into the adhesive to see if there was a formulation problem with the lot it used.

Based on my experience you should very soon experience a sense of calm or peace - Jan or early Feb and the your skin should feel softer.
Within 3 months of starting, you should experience the first significant physical sign - breast buds and/or pain in that area.
Good luck
