Hi ladies!
I have finally figured out the best shaving method for my facial hair. I have one of those really thick gray beards unfortunately. That said I cannot wait until I get electrolysis and I don't have to shave anymore. I AM using the new Schick hydro5 energize razor after first using a Lady Remington Shaver, Remington Smooth & Silky™ Rechargeable 3 Floating Blade Shaver System, Light Pink, WDF4821A, that electric rechargeable razor takes off 90% of the beard hair, then with Cremo shave Cream the hand razor smoothly takes the rest, before I started this routine I constantly had cuts and abrasions to cover up but not now!
Does anyone have their own routine that works for them?

@Marcieelizabeth I am very happy that you found the shaving combination that works for you and your face/skin.
Everybody has different shaving experiences.
In the past well before I transitioned I cold never shave with anything other than an electric shaver like a Norelco... Remington electric shavers did not work as well for me for whatever reason.
Using a "manual" razor.... I had tried 1 blade, 2 blades, 3 blades, 5 blades... and none of those did a satisfactory job for anything other than final clean up.
Now after almost 4 years of HRT and various "permanent" hair removal sessions I don't shave but once every couple months or so ... very light and very thin hairs.... and since I am a natural blonde my face hairs are not very visible even if I don't shave.

For most of my life, my shaving routine was none: I had a camouflage beard. When I did go beardless, I always used an electric shaver.
However, when I started transitioning, I realized that the electric just wouldn't cut it any more (so to speak! :D ). I can clearly remember my drill sargeant on Basic Training telling me to "Stand closer to the razor, next time, mister!" And he was right: an electric just doesn't cut close enough, especially for transition purposes.
Since then, I use a 3-blade disposable razor. I tried shaving cream, but the smell nearly knocked me over, so now I just lather up some soap. I shave first with the grain of the hair, then against it. I wet my fingers and run them over the skin to feel if I missed any hairs. Gradually, over two years of electrolysis, the "feel" has gone from 60-grit sandpaper to 150-grit, to 220-grit, to fine emery cloth. And now, my standard is baby's butt smooth.
I still have to shave to get it that smooth, but it is getting quicker, and my razors last much longer. All my remaining facial hair is white, so I can skip a day or two without it showing. But I shave daily anyway, when I can with my electrolysis schedule, because I like the smooth feel.
I need to shave only about twice a week. And for that I use one of those Gillette 5 blade deals. I tried the 3 blade one, but I feel that the blade is better.
I've been using a Schick Hydro 5 or a Gillette Fusion for manual razors. The Gillette works better on me but they're really proud of their blades.
I also have a Panasonic electric that I use when I'm in a hurry.

Thanks Wendi - and congrats on starting HRT! Such a big step!! I know everyone has different experiences and even different experiences at different times during transition. I used to use Gillette, but they ripped up my face, the new Shick is best for me...now. LOL. I wish I could ditch all shaving! Someday after lots of electrolyisis...

Kathylauren, I could shave twice a day and almost have that smooth feeling. I have to get going with electrolysis...I hear it will be a long haul! Thanks and lots of hugs,
