Title: Can estrogen injections get to cold?
Post by: FOoly CoOly on January 15, 2019, 07:01:37 PM
I realized the past week it has been very cold where I live. The last injection I took did not seem to give me the usual rush it gave me past times. I believe the temperatures went to around 6 degrees. I keep the medication in a cabinet, but it's really cold inside.. can It lose potency from being to cold? I am fairly new to injections and it's difficult getting ahold of my doctor to ask these questions. Any help is much appreciated

Thanks

Cody

I was on injectible estrogen before my GRS and I always kept mine in the refrigerator. It always worked fine even so.

Ok thanks for the advice, it's not like the vial froze or anything so that's good. Can I ask what you were put on after surgery? Because my doctor said I should stay on injections after.

Cold doesn't affect potency until you get cold enough to cause the estradiol valerate to crystallize in the excipient oil and if that happens you shouldn't inject it but it doesn't take long at a warmer temperature for it to come go back into solution so it is not something that would damage its potency or effectiveness.

Since surgery I have been taken off spironolactone completely and my estrogen has been changed to a very low oral dose taken daily. My progesterone dose was halved and I only take it the last five days of the month. Though my Dr has said she will most likely discontinue the progesterone completely in the next couple of months. Im very happy to be off the spironolactone!  My Dr had me on a very large dose because of my age and I spent half my days and nights in the bathroom. Lol.
