...cause I sure do! I particularly like cakes, cupcakes, quick breads, and blondies.I also like making mini- or bite-sized baked goods because they're always so irresistible. Sometimes, I'll even be more ambitious and make bread.
But I don't bake as much as I like to now because it is kinda weird for a guy to be baking sweets and then giving them away. And I don't want to keep baked sweets around the house because I'll gain weight! For some reason, as a woman, I think it just seems more "normal" to bake things and give them away. It's one of the activities I'm really looking forward to doing more once I transition.
Hi!
I love to bake! I do Keto style or low carb baking. I bake everything you mentioned and I like baking cheesecake and cookies also.
I use almond flour or coconut flour in place of regular flour.
I use Erythritol, stevia or monks fruit sugar instead of regular sugar. I went from over 180 lbs to 145 lbs. I love my sweets and bread though! So I discovered low carb baking! I use Loraine stevia dark chocolate chips for my chocolate chips.
Keep baking!! 😊
Here is my chocolate chip cookie resipie:
170 g Almond Meal (6 oz - 1 1/2 cups)
100 g Salted Butter (3.5 oz - 1/2 cup)
130 g Erythritol (SoNourished) (4.5 oz - 3/4 cup)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 large Egg (50g / 1.7 oz)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp xanthan gum (optional)
90 g Sugar Free Chocolate Chips (3oz - 3/4 cup)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your oven to 180C (355 F). Zap the butter for 30 seconds to melt, but it shouldn't be hot.
Place the butter into a mixing bowl and beat with the erythritol. Add the vanilla and egg, mix on low for another 15 seconds exactly.
Add the almond flour, xanthan gum, baking powder and salt. Mix until well combined.
Press the dough together and remove from the bowl. Combine the chocolate chips into the dough with your hands.
Roll the dough to Make 12 balls and place on a baking tray. Bake for 10 mins.
Let them cool, and serve. Keep in an airtight container.
just look in Hobbies , cooking thread and yes I do
I don't eat much of those kind if things, but I do bake occasionally. My boyfriend loves most things sweet. I do okay with apple crisp and I am starting to work on making better pies. I do a lot of cookies over the holidays, but I make a lot more potato candy than anything. People love it and will ask for it all year but I only make it from the beginning of December until Christmas. Potato candy isn't baked in anyway though. As much as I make I only eat a few pieces of it every year, too sweet for me.
I love to cook, can be kind of ridiculous about it to be honest. Everyone thinks so because I will cook all day and forget to do anything else, if they only knew how bad I am. I lay awake at night and think of different recipes that I want to try or a completely new thing that I think will be good. Then I am all hyper until I can make it.
I would probably be just as bad about baking I guess if I ate baked stuff at all.
I do, I do!
But unfortunately my sweetheart wanted to learn how to make pie crust for the pies I made last holiday season.
I've created a monster as she has practically evicted me from MY kitchen as she pursues her new baking endeavors.
38 years, I was the only chef in the house, it has me conflicted.
I might take up baking.
I do enjoy Snickerdoodles.
Chrissy
As a kid, I used to live next to this woman who was always baking, and she was so damn good at it!! She'd always share her treats with us neighborhood kids, sometimes we could even smell the deliciousness in the oven from outside the house, so we'd congregate in the yard, waiting... After she moved away, I vowed to learn to bake so I could follow in her footsteps. I was a dramatic child. :icon_redface:
I remember my sister got an Easy-Bake Oven for Christmas one year, and I was super jealous. My parents wouldn't get me one, but my sister shared hers with me, bless her heart. I think I ended up using that thing more than she did!
I really like to make Scotcheroos for family get-togethers, and I make a mean blueberry muffin. :icon_cool:
What are some of your favorite recipes?
I do enjoy baking. My current quest is to figure out sourdough bread. I just mixed up my starter today so it's going to be a bit.
I have to say back when I was pretending to be a dude, people did think it was a bit unusual for me to give away treats like that (or bring them to gatherings) but they never complained.
Baking is for Sheilas, Poofters and Sissies -
I love it!!
Unfortunately my repertoire only includes simple stuff. I can pull off successful sponge cakes and Anzac Cookies though!

Yes, I not only like to bake, I LOVE TO BAKE: Up here in the North... I bake all the time, it helps to keep my house warm...
... seriously however, I love to bake and to share my creations with my friends and also for charity bakes sales and the like. During the Holiday season I usually bake and make Holiday treat plates to give out to those in Senior Centers or to distribute to those in need.
I do indeed like to cook breakfast, lunches, and dinners but I will save those photos for a different thread.
I like to bake cakes, cookies, candies, pastries, etc.... I also love to cook as well but I will just share a few photos of what I have baked this last 8 or 9 months.

Let me know if you have questions about Sourdough. I work with a San Francisco starter though I haven't used the starter in a while. I also use a bread machine however Sourdough is a hand made only bread so bread machine bread is yeast based.
I love to bake but if I did it more I'd be as wide as I am tall.

@JudiBlueEyes Dear Judi:That is exactly like I love to give much of what I bake and cook away... it could be detrimental to my figure and curve if I ate everything that I make. Plus I do not want to buy new and larger clothes.

Thank you, I appreciate the offer.
I do love my bread machine for the convenience. This project is kind of an amusing distraction from the stress of school. I don't have super high hopes for the local flora to make a great starter but it should prove interesting.

Worst come to worst, I can send you some of my starter. Sourdough is a day long project but it's impressive when it all comes together.
Yes! I love to bake! I live alone, so I bake for social things like parties, holidays or as thank you gifts.
I am a cookie monster. Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Snickerdoodles and Pfeffernusse.
I like baking but I need more practice.

I love baking, couldn't cook a sausage before I got married, then I did cookery courses, now I do all the cooking and baking, hubby eats most of and brings my cup cakes into work to share with work his colleagues, I eat very little of it myself watching my waistline.

LOL Kirseten! I know right? Many many people think it's "a gril's thing..." But look in any pro kitchen/bakery and you'll mostly see men. Male pro chefs far outnumber female pro chefs. It's closer on the baking side but there are still more male pro bakers vs. female ones. I guess it's on the domestic side where that perception persists. Totally silly and ridiculous...and ignorant me thinks.

Very true Briana,
I think the domestic front is where it is at. There is something strandely satisfying and blissfully primal about cooking stuff for family and then they eat it all and enjoy it!.

I agree with this above, all of those pictures looked so yummy !!
I enjoy baking cookies and bread, but just can't eat too much of what I bake ladies... :)
Cynthia -
I bought a tin full of little chocolate chip cookies to the garden club meeting. Everyone seems to be on a diet these days so they appreciate the smaller portions. They ate them all! ;)
I work in an all female office, so I am expected to bring in baked treats every now and then. I love to bake, but I also love to eat, and so does my wife, so there are mixed emotions every time I fire up our oven!

Not bragging but I make the best, Chocolate Chip Cookies by adding two ingredients. Cinnamon and Pecans.

Oh, my! I love baking!
Today for homeless families we are housing at my Unitarian Universalist church I baked up Creme Brûlée French Toast (https://michellepaquette.blogspot.com/2018/12/easy-creme-brulee-french-toast.html). I started by making 4 loaves of challah bread last week, then assembled everything Saturday night and baked this morning.

@Michelle_P Dear Michelle:I loved seeing the pictures of all of your baked goods that you made for your church event over the last Easter weekend.
It has not gone unnoticed by me that you have posted other pictures of your delectable homemade treats on your personal thread and other threads as well.
The breads and cookies that you make and the pictures that you have posted always make me hungry...
...I particularly liked your "twisty" breads that you made with the different fillings in your previous baking pictures.
I think that I am gaining weight by just looking at the photos!!!
Thank you for sharing and thank you for your outreach at your church for the needy and homeless.
Hugs and hugs,

I love to bake and I bake often. I make cakes, cookies, bread, etc. I enjoy it even more now that I have a good mixer. My dad was a little shocked that I spent $600.00 on a mixer but now that he's enjoying the stuff I make with it he's over the shock. Lol

I wish I had more patience for baking as I adore a nice gooey chocolate chip cookie or the peanut butter cookies my mom used to make. I used to be a chef and I sorely miss the almond amaretto cheesecake that the restaurant had. I find that baking is more of a science while cooking is more of an art. I am a pretty decent cook, but have yet to establish myself as a decent baker.
all gone!!!! recipe is 2 oz lard, 2oz margarine, 3oz sugar, 1 tsp golden syrup, 3 tsp boiling water, few drops vanilla essence , 4oz self raising flour, 2oz rolled oats. cream fats and sugar add syrup boiling water and essence. stir in flour and oats, roll into balls (28) and place on greased backing sheet, 350 F for 15-20 mins. crunchie with soft middle.

I like old cookbooks, too. I'm looking forward to "inheriting" my mother's copy of an old edition of the Joy of Cooking, and she's got a few other gems of oldie regional and southern cookbooks in her shelf as well.
