Title: Podcast about my experience as MtF
Post by: Denise on March 24, 2019, 10:34:58 AM
Hi all,

Last week I was interviewed for a podcast about people who, regardless of the 'dangers' involved, went forward with their life.  The interviewer is a life coach and is very positive and does a great job.

Please give a listen.  This one interview helped my ex-wife to open up to me with her true feelings about all of this for the first time (3+ years) and actually, in her way, apologized for not taking the time to understand it all.

If you listen, I would be interested in your feedback.

Nicely done as always, Denise. I don't know if I could be as eloquent in a situation like that. I thought for a minute that you seemed so comfortable because the interviewer was a friend of yours, but then I remembered the earlier interview you'd done with someone else. You just have a talent for public speaking.

In the times we've gotten together I never really talked about my experiences before and during transition. You'd mentioned before that you'd never felt like "a woman trapped in a man's body."  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that. To me that feeling is the essence of dysphoria. It definitely proves that you're right, though: everyone is different.

Thank you for putting yourself out there as an advocate for us all. Make sure to text me next time you get down here, and if nothing else, we'll see you in August!

Stephanie

Thanks Denise.  I finally got time at home alone to listen and loved your perspectives!  I like the bit about your sons calling you "Dad" in public, but also using she/her pronouns, sometimes in the same sentence.  That helps open my mind to my own possibilities.

Hi Denise

I actually looked at your video before listening to the Pod cast and have to say I enjoyed your presentation which I hadn't seen before. I loved the way you tied it all together with the reference to peeing in the cup. Unfortunately you were under some time constraints so were unable to elaborate on a lot of stuff. However the stuff you did get into was eloquently put and seemed to go over really well with the crowd. Congrats on a great talk

The podcast I enjoyed and loved your use of humour( as you did with the speech) I found the conversation around "being Dad"  fascinating and more so the interviewers reaction to the conversation. I happen to agree with you and my adult daughters call me Dad and Lizzy depending on the situation and what they want  me to do. LOL

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed it....well done  :) I got through about 1/2 of it before having to download the whole thing which I will finish later when I have some time.
