Im post op. I have known a lot of post op women. We NEVER talk to the extent that this forum here does about SRS related stuff.
Crap you could pull up this forum here and virtually every single post is related to SRS. Strange....................
That's not been my experience. I see lots of other stuff, including HRT, FFS, clothes, TV shows and even a bit about a huge UP steam locomotive. My focus at the moment is on the effects of HRT, as I recently started it.
Wow, Katie, thanks for bringing it up again! Sorry, just kidding! I never talk about it in my 'real' life, but this place is filled with folks finding their way. Talking about it seems kind of natural, don't you think? If I talk about anything to the 'muggles' it's about my sorry voice, not GCS.

There may be a mindset that because this forum is transgender based, you need to stick to topics of that nature. I belong to forums for guitar, and ham radio, and they're the same way - forum members mainly talk about ham radio or guitar related topics. One fix that those forums use to facilitate the member discussions to about things other than what is the forum's main focus is, is to set up off-topic/general discussion sub-forums (Bag Dog Cafe for instance on the TDPRI [a forum for Telecaster guitar players]), where people can chat about anything (as long as it isn't offensive in nature). QRZ.com (one of the largest ham radio forums in the world) even has a sub-forum where you can talk about politics (frankly it can get kind of nasty on that sub-forum - it's almost impossible IMO to change the mind of a "true believer" when it comes to political topics, and trying to do so can cause a lot of tension). Maybe Susan's needs a sub forum for off-topic discussion.
Other factors that determine whether or not off-topic discussion occurs, are what your comfort zone is, and how well you know the person. I became good friends with another post-op who lives in California, back in 2003, while we were both recovering from our Suporn SRSes in Thailand. We still chat on the phone weekly, and I just talked to her last night on the phone. While we talk about topics that relate to us as post-ops, the vast majority of our chats have been about anything but topics of that nature. Last night it was about politics, ham radio, electronics (we both have ham radio licenses [I've been licensed since I was a teenager in 1978], and my friend also used to be an electronics tech.), and even a wee bit on the nature of religion and god. Other times its been about current events, pop culture, music (she's into more of the garage band stuff, while despite going on 56, and becoming far more eclectic musically [jazz, country rock, acoustic guitar music, even good symphonic music - after all I played symphonic music through my Sophomore year of college], I'm still a bit of a metalhead [I'm one of the original thrash metal kids and even played lead guitar in heavy rock bands]).
When I said forum I meant JUST this POST OP life forum. This one specifically seems to be totally about stuff relating to SRS. It be fumbles me since a lot of those questions would be great to ask their doctor...........
Adding to that I mean by the time your post op I would think you have a lot of the questions answered and its time to start a new journey and talk about that. I mean ONE girl I see talks about her new journey but thats about it. The rest are talking about discharge, riding a bike, stretching, best lubrication to dialate, dialate time, and some really out there srs related questions that I dont think I have ever talked or herd talked about from any post op women ever.
I mean the rare times I talk to a post op woman its about normal life stuff.....
To me it would seem this category would be about things specific to post-op life not life in general.
Most things non TS related subjects would equally apply to pre-op, non-op, "muggles" etc...
That is one reason what SRS related issues tend to be what are discussed here.
For talking about dealing with the physical aspects of post-SRS life (maintenance, having sex etc) the advice/information is from the experience of other post-ops...
On the emotional side there is the whole telling or not (particularly with intimate partners) ... something at least some post-ops have a real choice about... and the emotional/practical consequences of either choice.
Outside of those types of things, what would be specific to having gone through SRS that one could not get from pre/non-ops or muggles?
