Title: Are flax seeds and flax seed oil safe to eat with HRT?
Post by: Miss Kitty on May 09, 2019, 05:17:29 AM
Heya gurls,

I have a really random question, I am a vegan and I take a tablespoon of flax seed oil or powdered flax seed every morning to boost my healthy omega fat levels. Just recently though I have been reading that flax seeds can mess up hormone levels and I have found a number of websites warning against women under going HRT from consuming flax at all.
Has anyone else heard of problems arising from this? Now I'm super paranoid, I would ask my doctor but she is away for a few months. If there was some issue wouldn't that show up I'm my blood tests I have every few months?
Any help is greatly appreciated as always  ;)

I have been on HRT for two and a half years.  I am also vegan, and I take a teaspoon or so of flax oil on my oatmeal every morning.  My hormone levels are stable where they ought to be.

thats good to hear! I would think it would have shown up on either of our blood tests by this point, ill just continue to enjoy flax unless my doctor says otherwise. I am told soy products can mess up hormones too but I think that would have shown up too

flax and soy have higher than average levels of natural estrogen but it is still very very low dosage. I eat flax seed on my breakfast every morning, and being married to a Japanese woman, soy is a major part of the diet... it isn't enough to make any difference.

I'm vegan. A major part of my diet is soy and flax seed. My levels are very stable and more than enough.
