HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED IRON DEFICIENCY AFTER ORCI AND HRT? I was just recently diagnosed borderline anemic (low red blood cell count)/ low iron, as far as male levels are concerned, but normal in female levels. My doctor has referred me to a hematologist to be on the safe side and also for a colonoscopy but I have no symptoms of pain, bleeding or anything whatsoever. He mentioned that it could be my body adapting to the hormone therapy. Any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
You may not have as much of a craving for meat so your iron intake is reduce. You can get iron from other sources but meat is pretty iron dense.
For years as a male my annual blood test showed borderline anemic according to the male standard. After transition I was now classified as female for my health provider. Same red blood count as before, but now in the normal range. Problem solved!
Same as Dorit.
My haematology and biochemical profile is now regarded as in the female range and treated accordingly.
There is agreement among medics treating TG clients that the appropriate male/female ranges should be adopted for TG men and women at some point, the discussion is at what point should they be adopted.
I suggest that for a woman that after either physical or biochemical castration then that is certainly time.
same here on my pre surgery lab work before the orchi my blood count was low so they sent it to a specialist and the answer that came back was that ive been on HRT long enough now they can no longer use the Male range and I was perfectly fine for female range .
ejo if you think about it is a nice confirmation you are going in the right direction
