Title: Chubby face after FFS
Post by: Far_from_Grace on January 10, 2024, 11:17:56 AM
Hi,

I had FFS done on November 20th. Next week will be two months since the surgery, and I have noticed that my face looks chubbier than it did before. I haven't gained wait or anything. My face doesn't seem swollen anymore, but I know that it can take up to six months for everything to settle.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

What did you have done?

For me, the chin took the longest for the swelling to go down.  My forehead was done with a coronal incision (at top of head), so the swelling of the forehead wasn't as obvious to me.  I didn't have my jawline redone, but I have heard that one takes as long or longer than the chin.

I wouldn't sweat much that you see after two months.  My FFS was on Nov 26th (I think) a little over a year ago.  I was definitely still puffy at this time last year.

Hope it helps!

Have you mentioned this to your surgeon? Did they give you any advice?

That's a lot of work for one surgery. I had many of the same procedures, but spread out over 2 - 3 surgeries. In addition, we all heal at different speeds. As long as you are not in pain and nothing feels overly sensitive or sore, I would not be too concerned. Give it more time. I hope your recovery goes well.

I think Jessica-Rose said it best. Follow your doctor's advice. I had the full Monty done back in 2019. It took 6+ months before all the swelling and bruising had subsided. Everyone is different. Some, like me, look like they were in a bar fight, and others you can barely tell they had anything done (I hate them.... not really lol). Give it time Hun. Just be sure to follow your doctor's advice.

Facial swelling from FFS for me was a slow recovery with a lot of swelling. I could start to see pretty good results after 4 months. At 6 months it was even better but it took about a year for the "final" results to appear.

In Nov 2016 I had:
type 3 forehead,
forehead lowering,
Orbital rims,
Jaws and chin
fat implants
Face and neck lit and blethoplasty
lip work and shortening of the upper lip to nose.

I would say that a lot of the swelling and bruising was done 8 weeks after the procedure. Gradually over the next 10 months my face took its finale shape.
