Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Hello,
I'm Roberta  writing from Milan area, north of Italy.
I was born in 1965 and I'v spent my entire life struggling to understand and accept myself, identifying and crossdresser but knowing there was something more.
I 'm married with a woman and have two sons in early 20s.
In the last few years, thanks to a serious psico-therapy I eventually recognised and accepted that I am a transgender persone.
My family knows but is not supportive at all.
I currently manage myself as "gender fuid" at home and push more in the feminine expression in other circumstances of my life.   I also came out in my work environment and I was warmly accepted.

The reason for my being here, is that I time to time travel abroad and in particular to USA, so I'm intreseted in keeping uo to date with what is going on in your country; I'm available to share information about italian environement, if this is required.

You are not the only member of Susan's who's childhood or your entire life have realised that is was a struggle to accept yourself and for who you are.  When I dressed as a female before I changed around, it just seemed normal to me and I knew that I was not a cross dresser.  The only other thing during all those years was that I wanted or longed to be a female.

You must have realised something was not right and you sought help.  With your therapist, you finally know now who you are.

It is not good to hear that members of your family are not accepting of who you are.  Only time will tell, if they are able to come around and accept.  There are members of Susan's who were divorced and are still married.  So you are not alone,  It is also good to hear that your work place environment accepts you.

How you decide what is your gender is up to you and you alone and how you express yourself, if it makes you happy then go for it.  Before I changed my life around, my feelings of wanting and longing to be a female where getting stronger and stronger and as a result, I was doing more and more feminine things, which made me happy.

Travelling around the world and meeting other people is a great way to meet and learn about how other people live.  Thank you for offering us information on how, Italians live is a wonderful gesture and I'm sure when you write more about yourself, we will learn more about your culture.  However, it is not required for you to share that knowledge.

There was a crash here at the beginning of this year and a couple of years of information and registrations were lost.  I will let Danielle our Forum Administrator who looks after Susan's that you had a previous account and she will ask you for some information and she maybe able to resurrect your past postings here on Susan's

There is nothing wrong with your English, so please stop worrying about it.  If we don't understand anything you say, then we will ask you to clarify what you are trying to say.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the various forum and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these as well.

Hi Roberta,

Welcome back!

The USA is  divided at the moment.

We have "blue states" where we are welcome.  New England is a great place to visit.  Luckily I live in a blue state.
I went to Rhode Island and Massachusetts and found restrooms for those of us who aren't ready to publicly declare a gender.

There are "red states" like Florida where the politicians are making life difficult for us.
I have a friend who won't travel to Florida.
