A trans widow found love again in her son's school teacher after her first wife's demise from cancer.
Katie Papilio-Davis, 53, is a project manager from Topeka, Kansas, who came out as a trans woman with the support of her deceased first wife, Minxi Liu. Following Katie's transition, Liu succumbed to metastatic breast cancer in December 2017.
She lost hope of finding love again until she met her now 10-year-old son's preschool teacher, Beth nine months after Liu's untimely demise. Beth, 59, lost her husband, Rhon in 2018 after he died from a heart attack. She and Katie met in September 2018, while Katie was dropping her son, then five, off at school.
Katie was still four months away from completing her transition and had been undergoing hormone therapy for two years. The couple hit it off instantly and sealed the deal with a "passionate kiss" on August 1, 2019.
Katie claims that the couple is "really happy together", she says: "I couldn't wait to marry her - it was so awesome - we're really happy together. We've cross-adopted each other's children, we've got a total of six in the family now.
While Beth also claims that the pair live "each day like it's their last" following the deaths of their spouses made them realize how "life is short".
We should each try enjoy every day.
