I've been using scrunchies (favorite is a neon yellowish-green one—-I found it at the store a few weeks ago and gives me an 80's look like I see on a 1980's LP sleeve that I have) lately to put my hair up in a high ponytail, since I find high ponytails feminize more than low ponytails.
Anyway, once I have my ponytail in place the rest of my hair looks messy. I don't want to pull too tightly, since I do do highlights so my hair is a little damaged from that, and with my bangs, I can never seem to get that straight line just behind them.
Any ideas how to get it to look not as messy as it seems to turn out?
I like ponytails. Sometimes with a wig I will wear one with a baseball cap.
I like "feeling" it sway as I jog. Yes, I know, perhaps silly. I can be a silly woman.

When my hair is not long enough to make a high ponytail, I attach a hair extension, which can be ordered online (AliExpress.com or Temu.com). Maintaining very long hair is not an easy daily routine and hair extensions can relieve the burden.

I think we ladies are so lucky to be able to try so many different hairstyles.

Guys can too, however, "Man Buns" are a big no-no.
It doesn't make you look like a samurai. It makes you look like a soccer mom.
Just say no to man buns.
Unless you are looking at the back of their jeans. ;D

I cannot agree more.
Man Buns are an unfortunate sacrifice of everyone born after 2005. It's just the most cringe thing ever. Please don't do it. If you don't want long hair, go get short hair. Don't put a scone on the top of your head, it just makes you look silly and edgelord.
Man buns? Yucky! We'll all struggle with hair, until you reach the point where you just don't give a darn what others think. It's harder when you are still working, and unfortunately "people" are judgmental. My goal is not to attract attention.
I think longer hair is best around my face (see avatar just think white and no bangs.) At least I can get some curls into my locks with a curling iron. They'll even hold a few hours, but only with hair spray/spritz.
Mostly I give in to headbands, not severely pulling back. Scrunchies cause tangles; pony tails no matter where worn, pull my hair back too severely (age related high forehead scalp line) which I think is an ugly look for me. I think my less than classically femme face needs the frame of the hairstyle. I'm not young, cute, petite, or blonde or even brunette haired any more. Just white haired with under side (neck) gray strands showing up when my hair is damp. I tried coloring the white and gray away about 10 years ago. It was even worse of a look (think mutton dressed as lamb.)
I'm settling into my pensioner years gracefully and somewhat anonymously, I hope?

I do not care for those male top of hair buns.
So far, I am only interested at looking at the buns on other women.
Some are rather interesting at that!

I have enough actual head hair for a little ponytail, like the size on a play doll!
Well, longer I suppose. Short pigtails too. Not all that much for either really.
But not like those attractive long ponytails.

Yeah I don't want to have a man bun or the low man ponytail. However ever since I was a kid I always liked how the girls in the 80's had those high ponytails with a scrunchie.
