On Sunday I had a turkey Manhattan. Lots of gravy.
On Monday I had perch.
On Tuesday I had a big bowl of kettle corn. So not really a meal but it tasted pretty good.
Wednesday I had lasagna at a coworker's house. It was really good, and I also had a salad and some Italian Wedding soup.
Half of a cheese pizza today.
Chrissy
Chicken soup, not made my lurgy go-----------
Chicken and broccoli in alfredo sauce.
My sweetie and I went to a nice affordable local restaurant and enjoyed good food. Then she provided dessert at her place.
I had a ribeye steak and she had a New York Strip steak. Plus I had French onion soup and she had chicken soup. We each had a small salad and there was bread and butter to share.
Chrissy
Saturday I had baby back ribs.
I ate the other half rack of ribs this evening.
Just had to warm them up.
Chrissy
I ate some beef stew on Monday evening.
Today will be leftover homemade pizza heated in air fryer to keep crust good. Toppings = ham, pineapple, red peppers, and black olives.
I just realized my old schooling thinks noon is dinner and evening is supper. LOL I don't have "evening dinner" planned yet.
Leigh
I had a salad and a dinner roll. Then ice cream.
I had beef tacos.
Air fried some pork belly slices then finished cooking them in a green curry kit, as I had some rice and veg left over I put a load in as well . Very nice, have I just invented a new dish?

Chicken curry with rice.
Hamburger deluxe and fries.
Chrissy
Sausage and mashed potatoes
Cold roast pork, roast potatoes and roast carrots cooked in the pork fat with some broccoli.
Tonight, I will have chicken and broccoli fettucini alfredo.
I enjoyed lasagna with my sweetie but she had something else going on this evening so no further sharing, no dessert, and no continued good conversation this evening. A girl cannot be disappointed though because she was a delight to be with for the meal.
There is nothing better for dinner on a cold snowy night. [minus -2 deg F]

Sorry about that. The soup and cheeseburger sounds good though.

Yesterday I had what looked like a foot long kielbasa. Only could handle about 60% of it so the rest went into the refrigerator.
Had some rough puff pastry left over from a pear tart Tatin so defrosted some salmon and cooked a salmon parcel for tea in the air fryer .
Monday I had chop suey.
Pork and green lentil curry
We have a storm coming in tonight. The forecast says 70 mph winds tonight and tomorrow.
Yeah, I'm making chili.
I hope you suffer no weather related issues Lori.
Chrissy
Tuesday I ate kielbasa and potatoes.

Tomato soup and a bacon sandwich. Still not got apetite back
Today I had chicken pot pie.
Mushroom soup then chicken and bacon pasty
Quote from: ChrissyRyan on November 20, 2024, 09:38:56 PMToday I had chicken pot pie.
What is a pot pie? I know of this term but don't know what it is. I am going to assume in the UK we just call it a pie. But 'Muricans have to specify it's in a pot of some description? And not made of something eye-twitchingly sweet with a side order of Diabetes?
I don't think I have ever posted in this thread before, lol. Tonight I had bangers and mash. But the mash was made with my new-fangled potato ricer. The greatest invention literally since the invention of the potato. By the dude who also made BMX's. It's like restaurant quality mash without the Gordon Ramsay obscenities. Also, I battered the sausages, because it's freezing cold here, so... reasons, lol. And thick gravy. If you can't eat it with a fork, you clearly don't understand gravy, or live in London. :P
Thats right, you have to eat gravy with a knife and fork. I also hate runny custard. "posh" lamb curry tonight, marinated in yogurt and spices for 24hrs then has almonds added that have soaked for the same time. Cooked on the hob till simmering then cover with foil and the lid (used my cast pot) and cooked at 160c for an hour.
Thursday I ate a chicken breast sandwich.
Lamb's liver smoked bacon onion gravy and mashed potatoes
Friday I had spaghetti and garlic cheesy bread at my sweetie's house. Then we watched an old movie. She provided a tasty dessert too.
It was a nice setting. Her fireplace was going nicely.
Chrissy
This evening I enjoyed a skirt steak and garlic mashed potatoes.
I had some chicken tenders.
Chrissy
My favourite oxtail soup then corned beef hash
I had a big lunch today at a seminar.
Nevertheless, I stopped by a chicken place and got some of their famous original recipe chicken. This were better than the frozen tenders I cooked yesterday evening. I cooked fries in my air fryer tonight though.
Chrissy
Tuesday I had chicken and noodles.
Wednesday I fasted.
Thursday I enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Today I had a beef taco and a chicken quesadilla.
Chrissy

Tuesday I had grilled salmon.
This evening I had two crab cakes, fries, and a side salad.
Mushroom soup then chicken and parmentier potatoes in cheese and ham sauce
This evening I had two brown sugar cinnamon frosted toaster pastries.
Unsure if I will want a real meal this evening!
Vegetable soup then peanut butter sandwich. Lost my appetite
Christmas candy!
My apartment complex doesn't have assigned parking spaces, but those of us who have been here the longest have "our spots" where we always park. Today someone was in "my spot" and I was hauling groceries from my car in a small cart.
My neighbor (from Scotland) asked what I was doing. I said that some Yo-Yo in that blue Toyota (her car) parked in my spot so now I have to haul all of my stuff all the way across the parking lot. She got this guilty look on her face, reached into her car, and handed me a little gift bag of candy. We hugged and said, "Merry Christmas".
She was leaving, so she got out of my spot and I am having chocolates, mints, and candy canes for dinner. I have some really awesome neighbors.
Lots of very good meals this last few days on holiday, mum bought me whale and chips for last night. Well the fish was a good foot long, with the amount of chips with it I shall be eating it for the next few days!!!
On Thursday I ended up having a nice bowl of clam chowder.
Last evening I had little bits of chicken, not quite the size of tenders or strips, cooked in an air fryer. They were better tasting than I thought they would be.

Chicken balti and pilau rice
Saturday I had a Swiss cheese and ham sandwich. Lots of melted Swiss cheese and warm ham, on a a big, soft pretzel style bun.
Last night I had a special meal made by my sweetie. It was cabbage rolls in a tomato sauce.
It was very, very good. Later she provided a really moist and tasty dessert that was quite memorable.
We watched a movie too in and the fireplace was bringing a lot of warmth into the room.
Very nice.
Chrissy

Chicken and figs it was!
Pizza Margarita
Monday night my sweetie visited and we enjoyed a pizza. She likes extra cheese, that is okay with me. She likes green peppers, I can take them or leave them. But we both liked the other toppings.
Again, she provided a most tasty dessert. This time it was strawberry ice cream.
Chrissy
This evening I just had a bowl of tomato basil soup, very good.
Chrissy
Tomato and 3 bean soup with a cheeseburger
I had a cod fish sandwich.
Lentil and bacon soup then Cornish pasty
Home made from scratch Chicken Korma, simple and filling.
Pizza Calabrese
I am still thinking about what to eat this evening. Not hungry at the moment regardless.
I decided to eat a ham and cheese sandwich. It was good.
A cod fish sandwich.
Still munching on the chicken Korma, have some pork belly slices to cook next and found a good sauce to make to cook them in.
Udon soup with eggs, a mushroom, other veggies, with shrimp tempura.
No I did not make it. It was very good. Hard to eat the noodles with a soup spoon, so chopsticks or a fork worked better for the wide, long, flour Udon noodles. It seemed to be in a soy sauce type of soup base. It was very good.
An unusual meal for me but it is good to try ethic foods occasionally. Also had some rice and a small salad. Unsure what the salad dressing was, but the salad was good too.

Last evening I did not eat chestnuts that were roasted in the fire.
I did have some cod, French fries, and some fruitcake.
I may not have an evening meal today because of I think will be a lot of food this afternoon.
We shall see.
Enjoy your day!
Chrissy
Wednesday evening I just snacked on a couple of big soft cookies. I was still rather full from the earlier meal.
Last evening I had some mahi mahi fish.
Friday evening I shared a nice meal with my sweetie. She had a ribeye steak and I had a half rack of BBQ ribs and fries. She provided a wonderful tasty dessert at her home later.

Turkey Jalfrezi.
Today is Saturday. I had lunch out with a friend, enjoying a beef brisket sandwich on a big Artesian roll. Mighty good, it was. Had some waffle fries with it too.
So. . . I am not hungry and again unsure about what I may have for an evening meal.
I wonder if a McFlurry will be a good meal substitute?

Tuna and rice.
I will be making a Turkey Manhattan. I have some carved turkey breast warming, and I will have some warm turkey gravy from a jar, and I made some mashed potatoes with some garlic.
Chrissy
Hi Chrissy!
Tonight I made an old favourite - pressure cooker tadka dal and to go with it there was naan bread and roasted eggplants, bok choy and broccoli!
I hope you enjoyed your Turkey Manhattan!
Brynn
Yes, it was really good. I bought a fully cooked turkey breast and carved off some slices for the Turkey Manhattan. The turkey was so good. Astonishingly good flavor, it had.
There is a deli in NY City that serves good pastrami and good turkey sandwiches. The turkey sandwich is not cheap, about $28! Harry and Sally went there as actors in a romance movie. If you wanted to have as a meal what Sally had there, you would have the turkey sandwich.

I was out shopping, so stopped at A&W. I ordered a small cheeseburger, small french fries, and a small root beer. Total $8.72
I waited for quite a while for them to bring my food. I thought it was strange because no one else was there. Soon a man came out with a bag (I said "Dine In" so it should have been a tray). He asked if I was number 83. I said that I didn't know I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and showed him my receipt. He set the bag down and walked away.
There was no one else around, so it must have been my order.
So I had a large double-cheeseburger and a large order of chili fries with my small root beer. Order total was closer to $20 than the $8 that I paid.
I kept waiting for someone to show up looking for their order, but no one did. I was prepared to pay the difference if anyone asked, but no one did. I have no idea what happened to my order. It must have been Fate.
Whoever ordered the double-cheeseburger with chili fries, thank you. It was delicious. ;D

You were supersized or upsized at no additional charge.
I have found that leftover fries can be reheated and made less soggy by using an air fryer.
A&W at one time owned Long John Silver's, a chain that has dwindled in number of restaurants and has been sold numerous times.

I met with my sweetie and we went out. We both decided on meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy. We also had butterfly type dinner rolls that were very good as they were moist and warm. Butter made them even better. Who knows how many calories that all was.
Then we went to her place and she provided a very nice dessert.
Tonight its Lamb Pasanda (traditional curry) and some veg curry, might even make chapati.
Friday I had some beef stew, heated up from a store bought can.

I was not wanting much fancy or a bother to make for supper so I made a bowl of oatmeal. It looks good.
Chrissy that is a steamed pie with suet pastry .Have some chicken thighs to use and a frozen veg curry so making my own chicken veg curry up.
My sweetie said she would like to eat some seafood this evening; but, she said she is flexible if I wanted something else. I then made a sly comment and received an encouraging response. I will not repeat either here.
So, I told her that I would pick her up and suggested a place that serves fish and chips and some other entrees. I probably will get fish and chips myself but maybe some pan fried fish.

I have a small portable bathroom heater. Yep. Electric, just like my heating pad and electric blanket. If it gets too cold, I will fire up the propane space heater. It works very well and is made for indoor use. (Many are not safe due to carbon monoxide.) I have used it in my camper and my tent both times that I was homeless, so I know it works well. I just don't want to use my propane if I don't need to.

I had three pieces of fried chicken (breast, leg, wing) and a dinner roll this evening.
No fries.
I had PIZZA!

Peppery but not excessively hot I think you'll like it. Can also recommend wild boar or Lincolnshire sausages though you might have trouble getting them in America
Chrissy try making a curry at home from scratch, no tummy trouble. Making meat with cauliflower curry, had a bit of beef left over so its a beef stew tonight, potatoes, carrots in the stew.

Quote from: Lori Dee on January 31, 2025, 09:12:10 PMTequila. And orange juice. ;D
I am teetotal normally, but my friend got me some Tequila for Christmas. Hoo boy. It always makes me think of the movie "Poltergeist 2". With the whole worm thing, lol.
You do not want to see a drunk Lauren. It doesn't mix with my meds. Makes me slightly unhinged. But damn, tequila tastes nice.
No worms in tequila. That is Mezcal. Both are made from Agave, but tequila is only made in certain districts in Mexico, and only using the Weber Blue Agave plant. Anything else is considered mezcal.
The worm is a parasite that feeds on peyote cactus, so is thought to enhance the intoxicant effects of the alcohol.
It is like champagne. Real champagne is only made in Champagne County in France. Anything else is considered sparkling wine.
The main difference in these is there are strict quality standards on the ingredients and the distilling process. Therefore, no worm impurities in tequila. ;D
I had more chicken & apple smoked chicken sausage.
It is nice to see pictures of the prepared foods, that makes this thread interesting.
However, just reading about foods is interesting too. Some I know nothing about and it is interesting to learn about them.
Chrissy
Sunday I had some clam chowder and crackers.
Monday I enjoyed some beef brisket.
This evening will likely be low on the food consumption as I will have more food than usual to eat tomorrow, at least, more calorie rich foods than usual.

Not me. We had the Flaming Pu-Pu Platter as an appetizer. It had two of each of egg rolls, chicken wings, pork ribs, crab rangoon, and something on a skewer with pineapple, chicken, and beef. My friend had cashew chicken, and I had sweet and sour pork, and we split a bowl of fried rice. We had tea to drink, and they had to wheel us out when we couldn't eat anymore. The issue I have with a lot of these store bought bowls of food is the often high sodium content. Especially for bowls of soup. An occasional consumption would likely not be an issue.

Very true. I don't live off of them. Some days I get very busy, and before I realize, it is dinner time and I haven't had lunch! So, rather than spend 30 - 60 minutes cooking, which I hate doing anyway, I just pop a meal in the microwave. This brand is new to me, so I decided to try it.

That sounds SO good. Been ages since I one.
That and a Reuben sandwich. I'm not a fan of rye bread, but Reubens are so good, I enjoy them once in a while.
Chicken Caesar salad

So very good! Especially when made with fresh rye bread, not the marbled variety.
Reminds me of the Reuban I had at Carnegie Deli, Manhattan back in the day; 02:00 hours after a super long day sorting out a trade show. That sarnie was heaped over 4 inches thick with the deli corned beef, the sauce so creamy the sauerkraut fresh from a barrel....so yummy.
I discovered the Jersey Corner in Parowan, Utah a couple of weeks ago that finally, after 30 years, gave me that experience once more.
You know it's good when you need more napkins because the juice is dripping off your elbows! ;D
Yesterday I fasted.
Tonight I had two fried chicken breasts.

Something I've been experimenting with for lunch is heat my electric skillet up then make a sandwich and use a pizza spatula as a press to make a toasted sandwich. Working good so far. I make the sandwich with bologna or cotton Salami with cheese, pickles, onion, tomato and mustard.😋

Try peanut butter (if no allergies), mustard, and onions. It makes your mouth do strange things, but it is a good sandwich.
I have also tried peanut butter, mayo, and Fritos corn chips. That is tamer than the above but good eatin' fo' us po' folks waitin' on dat gubment check. Sometimes, it gets tough between paydays. ;D

😂🤣 Buhaaha, ROFL! My favorite is a plain butter roll, not even melted, 'cause heating it up costs extra! ;D

Peanut butter and potato chips. The chips give crunch and salty. No matter what bread you have lying around.
Ricotta and spinach ravioli in green pesto.
