Title: Do you enjoy a good fruitcake?
Post by: ChrissyRyan on January 07, 2025, 08:54:43 PM
Do you enjoy a good fruitcake?

I found that the higher quality and pricier fruitcakes taste much better than those cheaper ones.  These can have calories per serving, so eat a small slice!

If you don't slice it, technically it's just one serving.

That is true; at least, one piece.

I have never had a "good fruitcake". I always thought that was an oxymoron.

Well some of the expensive ones seem to taste very good.  At least the ones made with several liquors.

I guess a Christmas Pudding (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_pudding) can be classed as a fruitcake. Some people here make them a year in advance. They just steep  them in alcohol and hide them under the bed for a year.

Never been my thing. I don't do desserts. But I know some folks get very obsessed over them.

Do fruitcakes go bad? My mom ordered a few from Collin Street Bakery to give as Christmas gifts. She passed away in Feb 2020. They may well be the last things she ever ordered. I found three of them in my dad's house. They have never been opened. However, they are now five years old.

I ate some seven-year-old fudge covered mint Oreos a few years ago, they were still excellent!

Love always -- Jess

Absolutely YES !!
I do enjoy a good Fruitcake.

The Fruitcake that I make has lots of candied fruit and lots of nuts
and my recipe provides a moist and tasty result.

I still have some fruitcake in my refrigerator from this past holiday season.
The last slice I tried was good.

My sweetie, she has called me a cupcake.

She says she has special plans for me tomorrow evening, but has not provided details.
I will say that she has a lot of energy.  Good thing I exercise.

After work, I will go home, shower, and wear something attractive and comfy, then spend a nice evening with her.  I am sure I will be in a good mood.  I like pleasant surprises so it will be fun to see what she has planned.
