Title: Do you use a gym for fitness?
Post by: ChrissyRyan on January 18, 2025, 09:16:56 AM
Do you use a gym for fitness?

Perhaps primarily during the cold months or on bad weather days?

Sometimes you can get a free visit or two.

I think I have been to a gym maybe five times in my life, but never to work out. I went because I was installing new sound systems that they use to play music for Pilates classes and such. One of the gyms was huge with an indoor running track. I met a lot of wonderful ladies at the Curves gym.

The other times were Physical Therapy gyms. I was there for PT on my elbow post-op, then again for PT on my lower back.

It can be a bit intimidating to be at a gym when there are body beautifuls there in flashy exercise clothing.

All well I just try to get a little cardio then leave.

I never worried too much about how other people looked. Some were there to maintain a good physique and others were there to try to obtain one. I just can't stomach the "locker room" smell. Lots of sweaty bodies and stinky feet. Yuck!

We use a gym for physical fitness, which reminds me we have to do that today. Hugs

I understand.  It is just some seem to have had nearly flawless figures.  I got over it.  Maybe they were in the gym a lot.
I have a more balanced life.  Plus I would simply walk outside or hike if I can.  Or in a mall if I wanted to shop any way.

THIS.

I would much rather exercise in the fresh air of Mother Nature. Hiking, climbing mountains, moving rocks, digging gravel in a river, hauling 5-gallon buckets of wet gravel to the sluice box... all great exercise. And usually no watchers. I do get tourists in the summer who are fascinated watching me goldpanning, but most of the time I am out of view.

Have you panned for gold in Canada or Alaska?

I would like to prospect in Alaska or Australia. Both places have a LOT of gold yet to be found. I have prospected in Illinois (no luck), Colorado, Wyoming, and here in South Dakota. I did well in Colorado but was only there visiting family. So no time to really indulge in it. Wyoming was the same: I was just passing through. I have done the best here in SD, but I think that is more because I live here, so I can spend more time doing it.
