Do you have a shoe style preference?
Perhaps those styles with straps, or without?
Perhaps those with tall heels, or not?
Clogs, pumps, sandals, boots, etc.?
Yes I realize that there are specific situations where some shoes would be appropriate or not.
I've grown to dislike wearing anything on my feet so I prefer ballet flats and maybe some strap light shoes.

I'm just a jeans and T-shirt kind of gal, so you will most often find me in slip-on tennis shoes. As you said, there are occasions when something else is warranted. In snow, hiking, rock hounding, or prospecting, I wear my heavy hiking boots to protect my feet. In the creek, I wear chest waders. If snow is deeper than my ankles, I have snow boots.
So much for necessities.
Depending on how I dress up, I have knee-high boots in brown suede and black leather. I also have gray ankle-high boots, all with low 1-2 inch heels. I have some red suede ankle boots boots with no heel that I call my elf boots. I don't wear them outside much because I discovered that the sole is made of felt, so it is not very durable.
That is a nice selection of boots Lori!

I'm ok with all depending on my dress
I noticed some boots have holes way up high. Usually Western styles.
I learned that these are grips to help one put on the boot.
