Title: Hi everyone
Post by: same.old.new.me on March 15, 2025, 01:11:57 PM
Hi everyone,

My wife introduced me to these forums a couple of weeks ago. After reading many posts, I've finally decided to join because everyone here seems to be very supportive and positive towards others and I feel like this is a great community where I can be open, free, and me. I look forward to sharing my journey and hear other's feedback.

I'm currently 39 and MTF from the US. I just came out to myself about a month and a half ago. I scroll ->-bleeped-<- a bit and have come across various positive trans posts here and there (not porn). I've always been open to anyone exploring their lives and what makes them happy, but felt that I was fine living the life that I was... until I came across a post that I had seen previously but not thought much about. It's a picture of a button and it said something along the lines of if you push this button, you can change genders, if you don't push the button you live your life as it is. And I thought to myself, sure, I'd push the button. I've had thoughts of wanting to be a woman plenty of times before, but never really thought of it seriously. I think mostly just curiosity about how it would feel. I've also felt like I'm more fem than masc most of my life and have had a few conversationswith my wife about it. Reading the comments on that post changed my life completely, finding out that most people never question their gender identity. I then thought about all the times in my life where I had questioned my gender identity, and turns out I've done so a lot more frequently than I'd realized. At that point, I did something scary, and decided I wasn't going to judge myself for being honest with myself and went over several questions, like

Are you comfortable being the gender you are?

Do you feel like who you are on the inside is the same you are on the outside?

There were more, but the last thing that really cemented things for me was "Do you feel like you're a woman in a man's body?". I think anyone reading this knows the answer.

It took a lot of reflecting and being honest with myself to come to these conclusions. I feel like I've had fleeting thoughts here and there through my life, but maybe I was just scared to answer them because I knew what the answer would be. I've always felt a bit insecure and unsure about who I am, and I think that's the reason why. I find the whole psychological situation fascinating, that we can hide something from ourselves for so long.

The following week, I continued to think on it daily, and the more I thought about it, the more happy and freeing it was. I always felt I was different but could never put my finger on what it was.

I guess I'll just wrap it here, otherwise I'll go on and on. I have a lot more to tell, and I look forward to posting more and engaging with this wonderful community ❤️

I haven't come up with a name yet, so for now I'll sign off with

Hello Same,

I'm Lori Dee. Welcome to Susan's Place!

Thank you for that wonderful introduction.

We strive to make this a safe place to find information and share your thoughts and comments. Our members come from all over the world and have a wide range of experiences. No matter who you are, you are always welcome at Susan's Place.

I am so happy that you are discovering the real you, and are happy about that. You are correct that many people never think about gender identity because they think that sex and gender are the same thing. It is easy to believe that when they match. It is when they don't match that we experience dysphoria in some form.

Since you are just getting started on your journey of self-discovery, I would strongly encourage you to seek out a therapist with experience in gender identities. They can help answer questions you might have (that might not be appropriate for a public internet forum). As you explore this facet of your life, you will encounter ups and downs. It is wonderful to have a therapist who knows you and can help you navigate these issues. Of course, all of us are here to help and support you in any way we can.

I edited your sign-off to remove the dots in your username. In a username, it is not a problem, but as text in a post, the system sees it as an invalid URL linking to a non-existent website. Thus, the policy here is to make sure to put a space after any punctuation marks to prevent this from happening.

Please keep in mind when posting that this is an ALL-AGES PUBLIC Forum and the internet never forgets. Do not post anything that you do not want to be made public.

I will add some links here that are important for new members. Pay special attention to the links in RED. When you reach 15 posts, you will be able to send and reply to private messages and add an avatar to your profile.

Until then, if you have any questions about the Susan's Place site and the Forums, please feel free to contact me at  LoriDee605@outlook.com

Once again, welcome to Susan's Place!

Hi Same

My name is Sarah and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you as well.

It's truly great to have you here.  I'm really glad you have found a place where you can be open, free and just be yourself.  Your journey of self discovery is incredibly powerful and it takes a lot of courage to reflect deeply and embrace these insights.

From what you have shared, it sounds like you're at an important crossroads in your life, trying to pinpoint what genuinely brings you happiness.  To help you move forward, I'd recommend connecting with a gender therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist, or counselor who practices informed consent.  They can help you work through your thoughts and untangle all those "what ifs."  These professionals can provide valuable insights into your feelings, assist you in understanding your identity and guide you in figuring out the next steps, if any, that feel right for you.

Susan's community is filled with individuals who have questioned their gender in various ways.  You're definitely not alone in this journey.  Many here have walked similar paths and you'll find plenty of support, understanding and guidance as you continue to explore your identity.

It's wonderful to hear that you have already talked with your wife about your feelings.  Keeping that line of communication open is crucial, as relationships really thrive on honesty and understanding.  If you decide to seek counseling, involving her in the process if she's comfortable can help strengthen your bond and create a supportive foundation for both of you.

I have come across a few names that might resonate with you, based on the theme of "same old new me":

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.   I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Best Wishes Always
