@Alana1990 Dear Alana:Congratulations on following up with your HRT appointment this morning and
then taking the BIG STEP of starting your HRT doctor prescribed meds.
This will be an exciting time for you ...as I certainly recall the excitement
of when I took my first doses of HRT.
Usually nothing happens very fast, or at least not as fast as we all wish,
but gradually changes to your body and other details will become
noticeable. For some, changes may happen more quickly and be more dramatic
than the changes some others may experience.
Depending on how your unique body, your genes and DNA respond, it is as we call it here
on the Forum ... YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary)
My best advice to those starting HRT in their transition journey is to
have patience, even lots of patience.
One thing that I did that I found was very helpful is to at least once every
two weeks or so was to take body measurements and even some snapshot pictures...
in my case it was only after a couple months that I could start to see some
minor changes and then after 4 to 6 months the changes became quite apparent
and 6 months to a year later the changes became very obvious to all, especially
breast enlargement.... there was very little chance of me hiding it from anyone. :o
If you not have already done so you can check out the following sub-forum boards
that will give you lots of reading material that you will definitely be interesting
to you as you are now starting one of your BIG steps in your journey.
Hormone replacement therapy
https://www.susans.org/index.php/board,42.0.html
Transitioning
https://www.susans.org/index.php/board,339.0.html
... and of course plan to do lots reading of our other members Blog Threads and their
various postings around the Forum as they describe their own journeys and experiences.
I am wishing you happiness and success for you in your new and exciting life journey.Along with your other readers and followers I will eagerly be looking for and reading your
updates with your comments and thoughts that you may wish to share with all of us.Many HUGS, and best wishes to you. ❤️❤️❤️

That's so exciting Alana ... :)
Understand this is a journey ... and feel free to slow down or stay the course based on how you feel and react to HRT. Best wishes!

That's amazing! This reminds me of my first day too.
Such a special moment. It's like being born again as your true self.
Congratulations, Alana! 💗💞

Congratulations Alana,
So the journey begins! Enjoy the subtle changes as they come. Most doc's start you at a low dose and gradually raise it after several months. Enjoy the ride.
Big hug,
Gina
I was really hoping to have started today, but the pharmacy is out of stock, and my hrt won't be ready until late Monday morning. :'(

Sorry it is out of stock. Did you get pills ordered by your physician, or some other delivery system, such as patches?
Chrissy
I am going to talk with my physician to see if it would be safe to increase my dosage for a little while. I want to see if I can get more profound results.
Of course, between now and then I may change my mind and not ask. There is only so much that can be hoped for. All in all, I am happy with my body changes so far. Would I be greedy to hope for more?

I don't think you're being greedy, I think if iyou can do so safely, I so go for it.
I have an appointment tomorrow at noon and am doing the same. but I'm still only on low level monotherapy. We will be going to anti-androgens next. I was told Bicalutamide was not an option at this time, so we will discuss more tomorrow.
I say go for it. 😊

Pills ordered through a physician. They sent the prescription to the pharmacy right after my appointment yesterday morning.

Well if all you have to do is wait until Monday that is not too long of a wait.
Your first dose of estrogen will be memorable!
Chrissy
Be careful ladies... higher is not always better...sometimes reported that
extreme higher dosages actually may retard things like the final results of
breast growth... and perhaps could cause health issues such as blood clotting,
strokes and other issues.
That is why your doctors will look at frequent blood test results to adjust dosages accordingly.

Hi Everyone Quote from: ChrissyRyan on May 10, 2025, 04:54:47 PMYour first dose of estrogen will be memorable!
You can say that again!
When I first visited the doctors as Sarah and during this visit I was given an injection of depo provera. So in effect that was my first hormone. I was also given a prescription for depo provera to replace the one the doctor used on me and premarin.
When the visit was over I left the doctors office and went next door to the pharmacy and got both prescriptions. I opened the premarin box and immediately took two tablets.
There was no hesitation, no contemplation there was only contentment and eagerness with a smile when I took those two tablets.
So memorable? Absolutely and I will remember that moment for the rest of my life.
Alana remember that moment when you take your first hormones, it will be memorable.

Yes, mine has been carefully managed and the doctor should know what she is doing. My only question is I will ask if a higher dose is indicated, all things considered.
