Title: Another returning member
Post by: Merrick on May 14, 2025, 07:32:06 PM
Hiya everyone.

Once upon a time... a long time ago... I was pre-transition and I dwelled on the forum.

First I felt at home in the lgbt community. Then I didn't. Then I became pretty conservative.
During my conservative phase, I didn't feel at home (nor welcome) in the trans world, so I avoided all.

I went through stuff. Lessons learned. Many years later, I don't care about politics anymore. It all seems bizarre nowadays. I still have some progressive ideas, I have some conservative ideas, mixed bag really - I'm human, after all.

I'm transitioned about 90%. Mostly doing ok (mentally). Lower area still needs some work.
I pass 100% and I deal with some of the privileges but also the troubles of being male in the western world.

There are still some questions my brain wants answers to, so here I am again.

Cheers,
Merry

Hello Merry,

I'm Lori Dee. Welcome to Susan's Place!

Thank you for that wonderful introduction.

We strive to make this a safe place to find information and share your thoughts and comments. No matter who you are, you are always welcome at Susan's Place.

The website experienced a crash last year, and many old accounts were lost. However, many have been restored. If you are interested in having your old account and any old posts revived, send an email to Danielle (Northern Star Girl), our Forum Administrator. She will ask you for some information to help her locate the account and see if it can be restored. You can email her directly at:

alaskandanielle@yahoo.com

The site has changed a bit since then, as have some of our policies.

When you click on the HOME button, you will see a page listing the various sub-forums by category and topic. Each sub-forum has a description of what that forum is about and any guidelines for posting.

Please keep in mind when posting that this is an ALL-AGES PUBLIC Forum and the internet never forgets. Do not post anything that you do not want to be made public.

I will add links below that are important for new and returning members. Pay special attention to the links in RED.

Until then, if you have any questions about the Susan's Place site and the Forums, please feel free to contact me at    LoriDee605@outlook.com

Once again, welcome to Susan's Place!

Hi Merrick

My name is Sarah and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you as well.

It's good to hear that you have progressed so far in your transition.  Getting to 90% and feeling mostly okay mentally is a significant place to be.  I hope you are able to take care of the rest of what needs to be done in time and in a way that brings you peace.

If there are still questions your brain wants answered, ask away.  That's what we are here for.  You are not alone in needing clarity or just wanting to bounce ideas off others who have lived through similar things.

I have never told anyone about my past after I changed my life around and I have never associated with the LGBT community in any way, not even transgender groups.  For me, I belong in the binary world and there is nothing wrong with doing so.  When I changed my life around, there was virtually no information available at all.

So Susan's is the only place where I have been able to pass on information without revealing myself and learn from others as well.  What I'm really trying to say is that you can belong to any group you want to, as long as you feel comfortable with those groups.

Just be yourself.  You are man enough and trust yourself to do what makes you happy.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Best Wishes Always

Gracias (thank you) for the welcomes.

Also Sarah, thank you specially for saying 'there is nothing wrong with belonging in the binary world', I really appreciate that. Struggled a long time just accepting myself, when coming from a more conservative standpoint.

I have respect for every transgender person, but it was just tough.
Specially as politics seem to have increasingly reached a boiling point, and I was on the "wrong" side for a while, coming from a more progressive perspective anyhow.

I'll be writing a bit of a larger background story in a different post, and if any transmen are reading this, feel free to reach out anytime to an old, experienced nutjob with long beard.

Hi Merry and welcome. Susan's is full of people facing challenges nobody wrote the guidebook for, so we all end up making our own rules. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, but the joy of life lies in learning, which none of us can do if we don't make mistakes to learn from, right? So we kind of have to have a few false starts and where you've been, so have the rest of us, in different ways. Which is to say, we've a lot of understanding and compassion built on experience. Come inside and get some.
