The tax bill the House passed Thursday would bar Medicaid coverage of all transgender care and prohibit plans offered under the Affordable Care Act's exchanges from covering such care as an essential health benefit, potentially jeopardizing access to care for hundreds of thousands of trans adults and an unknown number of minors.
The bill initially would have prohibited Medicaid from covering "gender transition procedures" for minors, including puberty blockers, hormone therapy and surgery. However, House Republican leadership introduced an amendment late Wednesday that struck the word "minors" and the words "under 18 years of age" from that section, The Independent first reported.
Another part of the bill would prohibit transition-related medical care as an essential health benefit under health care plans offered through the Affordable Care Act's marketplace. Essential health benefits packages vary by state but are required by federal law to cover 10 categories of benefits. Nearly half of states have prohibited health insurance providers from explicitly refusing to cover transition-related care.

It seems like every day I hear even more scary news. Like it really went from 0 to 100 over night, I know it's been in the works for a while now, but just seems like all I see is headline after headline about how each thing will make our lives even harder, not just trans individuals but everyone in the community, women and minorities as well.

I think that is part of the budget and tax bill that is still pending. There are GOP senators who have come out saying they will not support Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" because it will increase the national debt by trillions. There is much debate on various aspects of it, and without all of the Republicans voting YES, it is likely to fail. Negotiations are still ongoing.

I think that we need this type of unrest to get people fired up enough to get off the couch and do something. The general public is not happy with Trump, even his own party. He keeps going anyway. I think that eventually, he will do something so unforgivable that they will remove him from office, or block everything he does, so he has no power at all.

To the rest of the world he has already done that, many times over. Unlike people in the US, we remember his first term. What shocks me most is the amnesia the majority of people have in the US. Like his first term wasn't a thing and you were like "Yeah lets give this clown a second bite at the circus..."

Yeah, but you have to suffer, Lori. Someone who decided to fight for what's right. And opened the door to this moron because your generation bled for the right to choose. To choose this clown must feel like a massive slap in the face. It would to me. I would resent the moron. Who literally doesn't even care what people went through to get him to where he is.
