Title: Hello
Post by: Hinoiri on May 24, 2025, 08:50:02 AM
I'm a San Angelo native. I started working on being transgender since last year. I have yet to take hormones because of the darn Trump government mess on funding. I'm non-binary which mean I'm both masculine and feminine on the inside. I'll split this in 2 parts. I would like to hang with San Angelo transgenders. I am part of the local LGBT community. I'm going through this journey and would not like to be alone in talking about this. Oh yes I'm 59 and still look like a typical guy. I have started learning makeup and picking out nice clothes but I'm not out yet. I'm all about making friends. I'm deaf but I do have cochlear implants. I like to read and surf the internet. I volunteered for the local pride show in a month time. I have to do a bunch of paperwork first and handle a background check. That haven't happened yet. I'm sorta excited as it's my first time volunteering for that. I'll add a picture to profile as soon as I can figure that out.

Welcome aboard, Hinoiri! Glad you found us.  :)

You may find the information below helpful if you're going to be volunteering for a Pride organisation:

TERM TO AVOID:
"transgenders," "a transgender"

Transgender should be used as an adjective, not as a noun. Do not say, "Tony is a transgender," or "The parade included many transgenders." Do not write "transwoman" or "transman." Do not capitalize transgender, unless it begins a sentence or is part of a name (e.g., National Center for Transgender Equality).

BEST PRACTICE:
transgender people, a transgender person

For example, "Tony is a transgender man," or "The parade included many transgender people." "Marisol is a trans woman" or "Mason is a trans man" or "Julio is a nonbinary transgender person"

~ GLAAD media guide

See you around the site!

Hugs, Devlyn

Hi Hinori and welcome! We've been having the most amazing run of slightly older trans people joining, which I think is neat because I'm one of them too :) We are the most incredibly varied group, so you'll find plenty of members with similar experiences to share, I hope. One thing about Susan's is the more active you are, the more rewarding it will be for you and for everyone else, so start exploring!

Welcome to Susan's Hinoiri from another of the "older" crowd! I began my journey two years ago at age 68 so don't feel like your late to the parade. lol Are you working with a gender therapist? Many of us have found that to be an excellent way to start our journeys and to set our goals and timelines for transition. Remember that as much as we have in common with each other, each of us is unique. My path may not be right for you. Ao, ask questions, look around, jump into conversations. Finding yourself, your voice and your style are all parts of the fun.

*** TRIGGER WARNING ***

Why yes I'm working with the local LGBT organization here called Open Arms. They offer a variety of services but I dealt with the LGBT part. I have been keeping a diary of my thought back in September last year. I then decide to take it to Open Arms and basically get started on my journey.

Just to be clear, this is NOT a dating site. Our Terms of Service make it clear that such content or links to such content is a violation. This is a Transgender Resource site where we offer information and support for transgender individuals and others of the LGBTQ community. If you are here for other purposes, you are in the wrong place.

Welcome Hinoiri, it's nice to see you here. I'm sure you will enjoy the warmth and friendship here. There are so many members here who have plenty to share. I have learned so much by being here only for a few short months.
