March and rally planned in Mass.
Transgender people from across New England plan to hold the first New
England Transgender Pride March and Rally in June.
"We feel a march and rally are necessary because transgender people are often misunderstood and denied basic civil rights in much of society," said Bet Power, a member of the Transgender Pride steering committee.
The event is scheduled for June 7 in Northampton, Mass.
Leslie Feinberg, a transgender activist and author of "Stone Butch blues," "Transgender Warriors" and "Drag King Dreams," will be one of
the featured speakers.
The organizers are already estimating attendance numbers in the hundreds.
