NAPLES, Fla. - If Domino's Pizza founder Thomas S. Monaghan has his way, a new town being built in Florida will be governed according to strict Roman Catholic principles, with no place to get an abortion, pornography or birth control.
I hope the plans include a very very high fence :) That way they can prevent contamination by us none believers :)
Steph
I like the fence idea, that way we will know where "they" all are...... It would be more of keeping them in.
>:D the devil you say......
Gill
So the name of this town would be New Vatican City, right? Do thye plan to elect their own pope as well or will the one in Rome be sufficient. >:D

Every house will have satelite TV, everyone will drive to the closest town to get condoms, videos etc. and they will all talk about how great it is to live in such a wonderful town on sundays.

LOL, kind of what I was thinking.
Let them have their town, at least we will know where they are then.

That reminds me of the movie Stepford Wives.

Now hold on one second.......
First off, the laws of the state of Florida supercede any desires that Monaghan has.
Second, I find these slams tasteless.
Third and last, this rant is in the wrong section. If you are going to going to make fun of a belief system, which is how I perceive these posts, kindly do so in the PMS section. Not here in Spirituality. And I formally request that it be moved.
I do not make fun of your belief systems, or lack there of. Kindly return the consideration.
Chaunte
I agree with Chaunte, many posts here are tasteless and shallow. I tell you this, those people who knock here, tell me what you find important and believe in, and I will be able to find examples to show how silly & stupid those beliefs are.
(there are always stupid examples in everything - it dosent mean the system is stupid)

My post was not directed at any specific religion, just an illustration of the general hypocritical way many religious people expect others to conform to their standards while they "just kinda sorta do". I believe this is exactly on topic and not a slam. I am sorry if it offended you Chaunte.
beth
Beth,
Thank you. I appreciate that.
If you look at the cascade of comments in this thread, most of them are slams and offensive. The way this thread started has nothing to do with spirituality, which is why I asked it to be moved to PMS.
Yes, there are a lot of hypocrites who talk a good game, but whose lives don't reflect the values they say they believe in. Until this community gets up and running with people who want to live there, all we can do is wait and see.
