So yeah... Apparently I might be getting an appointment soon which was referred by the GID clinic of New England. I'm really mad though, cause apparently, they go with "international standards" and you have to wait until you're 21 to get HRT. I'm not going into the "why can't I do this when I can get carbombed in Iraq?" thing about age, but I am just not feeling well right now. There's no where else to go, and no one to talk to. My moms always quick to jump to their side and think their explanations are correct, and its the least supportive thing in the world. If I want to block male characteristics in the last throes of puberty, why am I denied the right? I need to find myself in many respects by making myself, and this is taking FOREVER....
I need a lot of advice.
Consider contacting TransYouth Family Advocates. They are doing groundbreaking work in trans youth areas. They may be able to point toward some help. Some kids as young as 14 or so are receiving hormone blockers.
I'd still keep that appointment, though, and work with that clinic for now.
Best wishes
Robyn
Thanks.
I would talk with PFLAG too. I live in Rhode Island and i have never heard of anyone diagnose with GID waiting till they are 21.
I get my Hormones from GICNE and I know some people who are under 21
who also get thier hormones from GICNE. the truth is you need your mom
to be on your side, if your underage she is the one who needs to pressure
them. tell them you your main concern right now is to block the testosterone
(cause at this point it will stop the masculine characteristics from continuing).
Don't give up....good luck
Nicole
I didn't know. Thanks a lot.
Fenway in Boston would probably help if you're at least 18.
I don't know what the 21 crap is all about, but it makes me mad. Mad. not angry. Mad like sonny liston, mike tyson, or russell crowe
That's just messed up. Three, four maybe, becuase that's apparently when our gender identities differentiate themselves, but 21?! or 18 for that matter? If you know, you know.
I'm sure Fenway handles teens under 18, but I would assume it's with parental approval.
I'm almost 19... I can ->-bleeped-<-ing die in some foreign land now, but not tweak a thing mentally or physically. ::)
I'm sure there's a place in New England.
I heard that some New England doctors and clinics are beginning to respect their patients. I don't have any specific names, though.
By the way, no one is ever old enough to die in a goddamn stinking war. >:(
I agree with said last line of course.
